Started with a bad overclock. I have a geforce 6800, i overclocked from 325/600 to 400/720, it was running at about 67c which i thought was quite cool considering. suddenly system crashes while playing half life deathmatch!!! agghh, can log into XP for a few minutes then it will just die! I can boot into vga mode, @ 800x600, gpu-z says my clocks are @ 0 mhz, and in rivatuner it says forceware detected but cannot get onto the menu to get back to original speeds! I have tried removing drivers and using plug n play drivers, so far not much has changed! Does anybody know anyway to fix pc?

If you used software to overclock the card then you just need to uninstall that. Please tell me that memory overclock is not 720 DDR.

after removing and reinstalling 169.21 forceware, the pc worked now, then i restarted because i wanted to overclock a bit using rivatuner, then after a minute of logging in, both screens just go blank

at stock speeds, but i'm reinstalling drivers again, oh well, I'll just have to play Call of duty 4 at stock speeds at 1024x768 and just get 15fps. no overclock for me :(

Ive had issues with my 6800 when overclocked, some of them just dont like it. BTW if its an AGP 6800 use rivatuner to unlock extra pipes and shaders :)

yeah, your 6800 should unlock to 16 pipes if its AGP. google "6800 unlocking pipes" to find out how to do it in rivatuner.

It's not worth overclocking that ancient card. Even if you did get a good overclock your'll go from 15FPS to around 17FPS, hardly worth it!

You can buy such cheap cards these days that are better than the 6800.

but no space in my dell xps (I know, one of the biggest mistakes of my life!)
Trying to convince my dad to let me upgrade, he wont do it:(
If he gave the thumbs up I'd build my own system
