Whats it called?

I know I know it, but I just cant remember it for the life of me and its driving me crazy. Plus I need it for an essay I'm writting, and I'm not finished until I find out what its called. So I'm desperatly in need of your help.

A prologue usually is used to give a back story to the main plot of the book.

A foreword or preface is usually written by someone else (as already stated) and is about the author, book, or the series to which the book belongs. IME preface is used when it is written by the author

An Acknowledgement is usually written by the authour to name and thank the people involved in making the book, etc

arg! i'm starting to doubt my self now. I'm starting to think its a word starting with an e aswell now, but no idea of the word. I'll stick with foreword for now, but i've almost convinced myself that its the wrong word now.

If it helps its just a tiny quote about two lines long by Pliny the Younger, before the prologue. This is litterally driving me insane, havent gotten any work done yet because of it :o
