think question now is, is this a stepping stone, and how long do you plan on using this as 1080p only..is there a likely upgrade to 1440p?
my gut is rather than go for a agpu like 6600, which you may grow out of if wanting to upgrade, is still go for a 7800XT, and checked one other site and they have the pulse above for £504...checked last sale of game code and it was £30, so can know that down to £474. Gpu uses 250W while gaming(rechpowerup test of pulse) with spike of 308w...the 3100 is a 65wtdp, so well below maxing out the 500w psu
the 6800xt at 100% put the 3080 at 99%(in other words slightly faster but basically the same), except in raytracing where the 3080 wins
below is a 3080 paired with a ryzen 3100 at 4k...so gaming at 1080p wont be a problem. the cpu will be a bottleneck, but your fps will still crush your existing setup, and if you upgrade to more modern setup, you know the gpu will be be more than capable, so one thing you wont need to upgrade

I wouldn't bother with 32gb ram either.16gb is more than enough..I've yet to go over 16gb while gaming..just close down chrome etc before starting..it's nice having the extra, but not needed. watched a vid recently from guy runs a pc company is Australia, talking about ram etc..he basically says when selling a pc and buyer wants 4 sticks, he'll buy a 4 stick matching set rather than 2 sets of 2 sticks. Although the 4 sticks cost a lot more, they're guaranteed to work, which isn't the case with buying another set of ram and sticking them in. can lead to problems and crashed. says, seeing as he has to give a waranty on his pc, he wont sell it..get the ram you need when you buy it, don't add..if you want to add, swap the lot for more, that's why he recommends 32 for futureproffing, but seeing as existing, keep what you've got.

Later down the line, maybe look at a cpu upgrade, but, as a 5800X owner with a 3080 at home myself, I wouln't be spending £200 on one now. i bought mine back in mar2020 for £270..I wouldn't be paying £200 now. the 7600x for £199 knocks it to dust for gaming, as that's ona par with the 5800x3d, and that was down at £250 for BF...wouldn't touch that at £300..might as well get the 7600x and b650tuf board for £150..not that much diff in cost, except the ram addition, but selling old rig will cover that

sorry, thinking while i type.

if on other hand, just want simple 1080p and dont care too much, then get 6600 (was going to say 6600xt but the price..might as well just go 4060ti for £380), or 3060 if want dlss..

I'd keep cpu, see how it is..then get 2nd hand 5600x for £80/£90 if you want to upgrade a bit more
am5 been out for awhile now and prices come down to a point that spend too much, might as well go whole hog and upgrade everything, as think some am4 cpu's too expensive

Morning, just read over your post, thanks a lot for taking your time to try help.

I think I’ll go cpu/ gpu upgrade and maybe psu if you guys think it’s necessary. I just want to get it right because she’s dying to play her game but it’s too laggy atm. Proper feel like I’ve let her down since I built the system etc. so should I get 6600 amd gpu and what cpu would you guys recommend? Im no pc wiz. How do you flash the bios of a motherboard?

I think the 6650xt is a solid choice for £240 it's about 15% faster than a 3060 and the rx 6600, then there's no need to change the PSU. The 5600 is about £120 totaling £400 unless you want to spend the full £600 . The 5700x is £160

Was the game installed on a nvme?

So I’m thinking 5600x (currently bidding on one)
4060 or 6700xt
750w gold psu. Should be able to do all that for under £600. Would you guys recommend anything else or would that suffice ?

I'd try with the current PSU first, since it might be alright.

Edit: TPU have released a performance review for the game here.
If I didn’t go with a psu. I could get her a 4060ti for around 370. Is that a rip off? It says that the game runs better on nvidia even though it’s amd sponsored. Is there a way to see if it would work with the current psu (500w gold rated) without putting the pc all together ?

I wouldn't pay £370 for 8GB in 2023, 8GB cards can have texture issues even when you're playing at 1080p.

The launch reviews are still valid:

It says that the game runs better on nvidia even though it’s amd sponsored.
From the 1080p results, I'd say that the AMD cards in your price range perform as expected.

I'm afraid not.

If I didn’t go with a psu
If it was me, then I'd keep the money in reserve. The lowest power consumption is from the RX 6600 or 4060 (around 100-120), but the RX 6600 is a lot slower than the 6700 XT and the 4060 only has 8GB of VRAM.

5600X £90 you bidding on a 'site' price you can actually get it, cheaper hopefully
7700XT gpu £420 below -£30 for selling game £390 (7700xt is newer so s/b supported longer than 6700XT, 30% uplift in performance and s/b worth more when you sell it).gigabyte radeon on offer below, reduced from £480
PSU Corsair RM850X shift atx3.0 £116.98 with free delivery on promotion if you look...1 left, though they have the rm750x shift...£5 cheaper but for £5 get the 850w...will do your next gpu upgrade too. its atx3.0 compliant with relevant cables in box if you ever switch to nvidia, or go that way rather than amd this time..if you don't want to search for it away, get the rm750x shift below, more than enough power ..other site you put in additional code on top of discount when you search

Total £597

Having 2 kids as gamers, don't look at the 1 game and go which gpu is best for it..look at a range of games, so taking the HU average, or other yt'ers is much better. I can 100% guarantee your daughter will move on from pandora to another game, so performance for pandora will then no longer matter

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £677.96 (includes delivery: £7.99)

I 100% agree with @Tetras , £380 for the 4060ti with 8gb ram is too much (cash and not enough v ram) for this day and age..i looked briefly last night but discounted when i saw the price..one reason i plumber for the 7800xt, as will last a long time, but understand it's a bit of an unblanced system

So I’ve purchased the 7700xt and 5600x. Will I need a new psu with that? Or will the 500w be okay? I feel I will probably need a new one
At max, 5600xcan consume 146W (looking at kitguru data), 7700x7 262w, a mobo 25w, ram3w per gb so 6w, ssd 5w, fans 3.6w per rgb fan..so did 5 fans...max load 464w. so theoretically you can run it on 500w psu, but would not recommend it
Generally you then double it to generate a 50% load as 50% generally where psu runs at efficient levels without any strain, so prolonging it's life span etc...which puts 900w odd..however, you'll never be running everything at max load...seen recommended 750w to 850w, another site recommended 1000w which seems ridiculous to me..ity ain't that powerfull..if you get something like the shift on offer above, it's atx.3.0 compliant, comes with 10yrs warranty etc and you feel you may upgrade again in few years, i'd go 850w...that covers you for more powerful gpu, and ability to switch to nvidia in future also
if you're not planning on upgrading , just go 750 and save cash
I'd choose a psu with 10yrs warranty...then you know seller stands by their product and s/b good quality..

checked other place that had the rm850x shift for £117, and they're sold out..sold out of the 750x shift also...the 'shift' is the atx.30 compliant..the non shift isn't...still a great psu, and more than fine for amd...just futurelooking..
the rm750e and 850e come with 7yrs warranty..still atx3.0 compliant but use some parts which are a grade, but not from top tier supplier, hense loose 3 yrs in waaranty..price reflected though and they're on offer here.(and elsewhere so must be a corsair thing)..so 750e is £90 and 850e is £100

Little update… updated her bios / installed the new psu / 5600x / 7700xt

Turns out she’s running her games from an external mechanical hard drive and playing On a 4k 50 inch tv at home. Will be installing all her games in a 1tb nvme and she’s now playing on a 1080p monitor. Merry Xmas everyone and thanks again for the help ! :)
