Been a couple of years since I bothered with my rig. Currently running an opteron [email protected], 2x1gb ballistix pc4000, lanparty ultra-d and a 7800gt.

Mainly playing MMORPG's with a little bit of video editing and encoding on the side so haven't felt the need to upgrade until now. My mobo just went on the blink and thought I'd take opportunity to do a little futureproofing. I won't be setting my sights on any new games until Q1 2008 (WAR, AoC etc.) so going to hold off till then to get a new graphics card.

I have about £250 to spend, at the moment I'm looking at getting:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 2.00GHz 'Conroe' 1MB Cache LGA775 (800 Mhz)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard

I have a little bit left over and I'm debating whether to get another 160gb hd to run in raid0 with my current. I figure that it'll reduce my load times and the extra storage space won't hurt though I don't really need any more at the moment. The other option would be to opt for another geil 2GB kit while they're on offer - though I'll probably be using a 32bit OS in the meantime so I know I won't benefit from the full 4GB. I can always pick up either at a later stage but what should I go for now?

What you are looking at is fine, just in case you've overlooked it - if you go for Raid0 then you would need to format your existing hard drive and it offers no redundancy. If you went for 4gb you'd see somewhere around 3.5gb of it. :)
