LittleBigPlanet - Play, Create and Share.

Nope sorry, I've already seen all that has so far been revealed. Still don't see the justification in the massive hype, although I'm sure it will be a polished, fun game - just not what some people are making it out to be.

Likewise. Just another fad game as far as I can tell. There will be the hardcore followers, but most will be bored within a week.

so people think that people will get bored sharing and creating levels, somehow i don't think so

Yep, I do. Of course there will be hardcore LBP players that will constantly come up with new stuff, but if we are talking generally then I don't see the huge amounts of people becoming involved that seems to be suggested. Lets be honest, the 'style' of this type of game is what attracts casual gamers (I will refrain from using words like 'cute' and 'cartoony'), and by their very nature it will mean they don't commit the time to creating things.

I'd love to be wrong, as I think a new game on the block (especially a fun one rather than a 'serious' game) that dominates a console community would be a great thing, but I just don't see it continuing a couple of months down the line after release.

I'm sure when it's first out everyone will frantically using the editing tools, but let's see if it's still the case a little while after.

Doubt it...

I don't. MGS4 will give it a run for it's money. (did I say that correclty, it sounded weird). I can easily see my self spending hours everyday just testing out all these different things. Making little toy cars go down huge ramps and and hitting something along the way causing the sackboy to land in something funny.

Yeah I said I'd spend hours messing about on GTA IV, but I didn't.

It will be good, but GOTY is going to end up going to something like Fable 2, GTA IV or MGS4 most likely.

I fail to see the issue with what you said here, it appeals to the hardcore LBP fans to create levels, and the casual market to play those levels.... Isn't this exactly what the game is trying to acheive, a broader market than just the hardcore gamers?

The media have already showed a lot of love for this game and they've played it. Other developers (insomniac for 1) have already stated that they are going to create levels.
If the media & other developers are onboard and support the game I would be very suprised if the consumer doesn't also, and lets be honest what competition does LBP have in it's market? It's not like were going to see anything like it arriving within the next 3-6 months.

I'ts not like an FPS where everyone plays it until the next big game arrives.

your all doomslayers i tell thee, lol

I would say there is a bigger chance that people would rather like having the ability to create whole levels based around racing, playing together, platforming and collecting items. Also so what if only hardcore players are the ones making the levels after a few months you can say the same for any game that has user generated edited options and maps - the thing is there will always be new stuff available regardless.

Anyway for me this is my no1 game this year already and i doubt i'm going to be disappointed

Fable 2 looks crap and doesn't stand a chance at GOTY.

GTA4 is crap and might get GOTY but I can only hope not.

MGS4 although good, imo won't get GOTY because it was released early in the year, and is aimed primarily at MGS fans, so ultimately a niche market.

Next....

Look at spore, people have gone nuts over the creature creater and thats not even the full game. People just love to be creative, LBP lets you be as creative as you want when creating levels. Its not going to be a game that fade anytime soon. It'll be getting free DLC every other month, confirmed on the E3 1up podcast.

Things I Learned About LittleBigPlanet

Man, LittleBigPlanet looks great. So, so, so great. In yesterday's LBP breakout session, Media Molecule's Alex Evans walked us through the game, pointing out all sorts of fun facts. Like? Well....
• The game will feature trophies.
• If two players of different levels play co-op together and one falls behind, that player will instantly die and respawn so the two players can keep up.
• There are over 60 tutorials that focus on creating.
• Because the Sony E3 press conference showed it was possible to embed text on objects, it will now be possible to do that in-game. (Media Molecule wants to make sure everything it's now showing with LBP is actually possible for users to make.
• Originally, they planned to give players complete freedom of depth, but found that a richer experience could be gotten with only three layers of depth.
• If you use voice chat, Sack Boy will be lipsynched to your speech.
• The tags used to label level you create are pre-selected and were intially from LOL Cats. This has since been changed.
• Stephen Fry does voice over work for the create mode.
• It hasn't been announced if you can import your own music into the game. Says Evans, "There's no reason technically why not."
You might've known all of these. Heck, you might even know more. Good for you.

Hardcore are in the minority, casual won't put the time in to create new content. Thus there won't be the amount of people creating new stuff that is being suggested.

That was my point.

Although the game might not have been done before, the idea that there is going to be this massive online community that shares things has, and ultimately it almost always fizzles away, despite the promises of regular DLC etc.

Like I said I hope it succeeds, and I'll almost certainly buy it. I just think we have been here before. People get very excited about something new, couple of months later it's 'meh' and onto the next game.

Are they even casual gaming PS3 owners? I would think the price of the PS3 would put casual gamers off. The Wii pretty much has the casual gaming market locked.

Of course there are casual PS3 gamers, just because the Wii is doing so well doesn't mean people who own a 360 or PS3 can't do casual either. If anything, 'PlayStation' has been the symbol for mainstream and casual for years.

An example would also be those who bought the PS3 as Blu-Ray player primarily, and a games console second.

There was a time when I would have agreed with you, but seeing the amount of time people must have put in to just creating car decals on Forza 2, I now couldn't disagree more.

There will be plenty of people out there willing to put in the hours to create a level, you can count on it. Most will be crud, some will be good and a few will be sublime. Thankfully the rating system will allow you to go straight for the very good levels and avoid the crud :D

I for one can't wait for this game and I have never been into platformers!!!

I love it. People say they dont see the appeal. Okay fine, Dont buy the game then. But just because you guys dont find it appealing, You arent the only people on the planet, I don't find football games appealing, but guess what. I know other people like Fifa!

Believe the hype, Believe it could be a good game. Just also believe maybe only you don't like the look of it

lol, my thoughts exactly (apart from not liking football).

"I don't like the look of this game so I don't think it will be succesful!"

Regarding the community going away for LBP, thats were the idea of rewarding the top level makers the ability to charge for there levels. They cannot do this themselves and only MM decide who can or cant, so if you start making good levels, you may get the chance to make some more that you can charge for. Your original levels you cannot charge for once you have made them, and all content will be free at first, so its a good way to keep the good level makers interested, Imagine if you get good enough for MM to give you rights to charge a 50P for a level, not sure how its split between you and MM (if at all), but if you get 50% of the money you only got to sell to a few percent of the owners to make some nice cash. Some will see this as a bad thing but I think if your talented enough you will get rewarded at some time for your efforts.

There are already forums out there dedicated to LBP. People are already coming up with hundreds of ideas to create levels. It'll be a big hit on the PS3 for sure.

i remember sensible software's shoot em up construction kit on c64 ,i was crap on that ,but the chance to create whole levels on a console is something i cannot miss ,
