LittleBigPlanet - Play, Create and Share.

Honestly, no, it is far too complex for the average gamer to make the most of its best features. I think i will have an immense amount of fun with this game but i bet the first thing joe public will say is 'wheres the fire button and how do i get a gun?'. For christs sake, one of my mates played crysis and complained that it was too complex due to the suits mode switching ability (speed, strength, cloak, armor), i seriously doubt he'll ever bother to go through the huge amount of tutorials required to make full use of it.

It'll sell to the mario crowd surely.

From what I've played so far of LBP, I'd say not necessarily. It's a platformer, but in a totally different way to any other. Some people will find it brilliant, but I'm certain others will quickly tire of it.

Personally I find the editor/creation tools far too fiddly, and at one point there was way too much information for me to take in so I just gave up. Not a fan of the Poppit(sp?) menu system either. The gameplay controls are very simple, but I've found even those to be niggly and frustrating at times too, especially when jumping/moving between 'layers'.

Some of the user created levels are quite good though (especially one with a cannon and big dragon to kill), but I'm still left with a feeling of wondering what the actual point of the game is.

Great fun playing alone, and I guess with others it would be even better but online is unplayable.. so laggy.

I feel the same.

I canceled my pre-order after playing the beta. I think its an innovative idea and the graphical style is great. But there isn't any structure or any kind of goal. I would imagine the single player game being pretty short. As it mainly based on creating and sharing levels.

I would pick this up when its cheap and the LBP community becomes more established.

I must admit I felt the same, I played for a bit and felt a bit bored. Went back to FIFA 2009 10v10 instead :D

A friend of mine who I gave a beta key too (after telling him there would be other people who would want it if he wasn't keen) played it once and has gone back to playing Super Stardust HD, etc. I think LBP is really only going to appeal to those who already have a predisposition towards community-based content.

Hardcore Facebook & Youtube people will love it, based on the beta I can pretty much take it or leave it - as fun as it is.

i think its fun the user created levels seem more about making something that looks good rather than actually gameplay but user created levels and mini games will take time

i think the single player game should be good enough to keep me entertained and hope that the user content can keep the game alive a lot longer than most games i doubt i will ever make anything though lol
