so i think ive got addicted to live for speed, have decided to buy it. mainly because i hate people crashing into u if ** overtaking or jus not breaking for the first corner, plus i want to go on the new tracks and stuff

so do i just go to the live for speed site and buy a 'LFS S2 license" install the full game and my user name/ password allows me to select s2 instead of demo ?

If I've understood your post, then yeah pretty much.

Be aware though, people still crash the first corner and nudge you when passing in the full version. Can be flipping frustrating sometimes!

Have fun though.

You'll already have the full game downloaded, all you have to do is log in on the game once you have bought it and it'll unlock it for you.

im hoping it will happen a lot less, since normaly idiots wont buy a game jus to ruin it for others, im hoping to get in some racers with people who want to race proper.

Collisions happen a lot less on the registered version. They still occur, but generally people are polite and non-malicious in their driving - they have a license they paid for to look after :)

The demo is a different kettle of fish altogether, some of the kids on those servers seem to think they're playing billiards instead of driving :D

You will still have idiots crashing into you. Hence why I left LFS.

Good old early S1 days.. since S2 came. Attracted so many plain idiots.

TBH I've been playing quite a lot and haven't had any idiots totally ruining the game. Worst thing is when the race is over and some turd decides to drive the wrong way even though your still finishing.

But even thats rare, I've found most servers to be idiot-free. Yes, you get nudged, but isn't that the point of the race? Its like the BTCC :p

And Mini's are where its at. 4 speed, everyone flat out on the straight, its all about maintaining that momentum. 25 of you into the first hairpin bend, its hilarious.

I like the sound of that might have to download it.

sorry to steal the post but ive played the Demo for a LOOOOOONG time. And ive considered buying it but my Steering wheel messes up sometimes and on my previous PC it used to freeze for about 7-20 seconds and then it *** unfreeze and id be in a wall lol. and on this new PC its just like ive left my desk cos the throttle is still going and i cant steer the car ois just going straight forward at 200kmh towards a wall. so i think thats the only things that "steering" me away from buying it :D

its not the nudging its the people using u as a break into the first corner, smashing u into the wall, totaling ** car. or if u get a good run out of the shickane, slip stream, start to edge pass so they jus clip ** back sending ** spining. its annoying cos it takes u totaly out of the race, not jus lost he position but ** in lastplace. or people that just join the game to spam smiley face and sit at the hairpin till u come round to it and smash into u head on.

buying S2 WILL stop it, dont spoil it for me its a great game :)

Was playing the demo the other day, and for no reason at all i just got banned from the server....there was a big crash up ahead i drove through the middle of it all leaving me in 2nd and then all of a sudden my name is up for banning

Put me off the game totally

That's just one demo server though, with an admin that probably just got annoyed and banned the first name that he saw. Don't be put off so quickly.

since were talking about wheels.

im thinking of geting one that does more than 1 turn of the wheel, like a real car. ive not had a look tho so dont no if ocuk do them. i remember seeing them advertised for gran turismo 4.

It's the Logitech Driving Force Pro. Very good wheels apparently, up with the normal Logitech Momo.

i want to know what others think :)

I have the Microsoft Force Feedback wheel, a friend bought that Saitek after playing a little on mine. I've had the discomfort to use it since and really don't like it. Stubby cheap feeling pedals, chunky slow force feedback and generally didn't like it. Get either of these (by second hand or otherwise) :

DFP (as DaveyD mentioned)
Microsoft Sidewinder FFB (not for sale anymore)
Logitech G25
Logitech Momo / Force (not sure which one as never used them)

The latest Release of LFS has presets for the MSFF and the Momo Force wheel. G25 should follow soon. Most wheels are great for it anyway IF they are capable of decent force feedback.

I think basically as far as wheels go its:

Best: G25
Reasonable priced FF: Momo
Reasonable priced Non-FF: DFP
The DFP does have FF though, it's just specifically designed for the PS2 (with PC functionality also), just has 900 degrees of steering instead of 240 the Momo has.

Oh my bad I always thought the DFP didnt have force feedback on PC as I never saw people really talk about it?

It's totally functional on a PC, and regarded by some as the best wheel outside of the G25. Personally I prefer the MOMO, but I do also own the DFP.
