Now I live on my own, my GF is 100 miles away and I don't mind cleaning. I will happily dust, clean windows, laundry and do dishes, but the worst thing about cleaning is doing the shower. I absolutely hate cleaning the drain filter on the shower, it's absolutely disgusting. No matter how long i put it off, it still has to be done.

What is the worst/most hated part about cleaning your home?

Yeah definitely the bathroom. The previous owners left it in a disgusting state. There is still black mould that I can't get off. I have tried all sorts :(

I use one of those plug hole covers to catch as much hair as possible (before anyone judges I'm female and have long thick hair :p) every now and then I'll pour some baking soda and white vinegar down the drain to help clear the gunk. I also spray around after I shower every day with vinegar water.

And once a month I put my shower curtain and bath mat in the washing machine. (I long for the day I can finally re do it all and have a shower screen instead!)

That is a cracking idea, I would never have thougt to use baking soda for that, thanks.
Not sure I could use a plug hole cover as mine is a corner shower with a filter of sorts.

Almost made myself ill trying to get the bath sealer/tile grout clean....had 3 or 4 different products, one def had bleach...not sure about the rest but they clearly weren’t meant to be used together and turned my small bathroom in to a ******* gas chamber :p

Oh dear :D

No matter how much dust / gunge / pubic hair you remove, it always come back. Leave it and after a while it plateaus and then you learn to live with it.

Unfortunately it affects the drainage of the shower. End up standing in half an inch of water lol.

Lol no worries. Baking soda is good for cleaning ovens too, just sprinkle on the bottom and spray a bit of vinegar over it and let it do it's thing :D

Ah I see what you mean. I definitely hate the sink plug as it's one that you have a lever to open and close it. When I first cleaned it, it was full of gunk and hair *gag* :(

That. Is. Grim. :(

The gutters. There are a couple of spots where I can't get the ladders in the ideal position so end-up working blind, directly above my head, and I always end-up with loads of gutter-juice on my head/down the back of my neck (and it doesn't smell good at all). :D

Which reminds me, I need to do my girlfriends gutters....no, that was not a euphemism.

Yeh, the shower cubicle in the en-suite of our house is an absolute **** to clean because of the sliding doors. Its impossible to get into all the nooks and crannies where water sits and causes mold. Its all glass so naturally within days of cleaning it its just covered in limescale again. Also, the plug hole gets blocked up with my partner's long hair every few months, although Mr muscle drain unblocker is amazing at shifting it.

Don't mind cleaning the main bath/shower, i just hate the cubicle.

I find the same issue. The shower door rails are an absolute pain to clean and yes, about 2 days after cleaning the glass they're murky again. Just great!!

Bedding. Is there some form of magic trickery that allows a single person to easily and successfully put a cover on a king sized duvet without it becoming an anger induced wrestling match?

I have a double bed and king size duvet. I normally turn the cover inside out, put my hands in and grab the corners of the cover, then the corner or the duvet. Stand on the bed/sofa and shake so the cover falls over the duvet. Then put the open end corners into place and shake again, standing on the sofa/bed. Button up and shake again from top. Done. 5 mins.

I've tried this exact method. Inside out and grabbing the corners while dropping the duvet cover back over. The problem always arises from the middle part sagging as the duvet only stays where you're grabbing. This causes constant readjusting and shaking until I'm just tired and mad. :p With 2 people it's so much easier as you can create tension across the top of the duvet as the cover is folded over.

I think I just need longer arms. Much, much longer arms.

I've never had it sag, I create the tension when I place it over the bed edge before putting the open end together.

What's a shower drain filter - you mean the plug hole? I've only ever poured bleach/cleaner down it - not that taxing.

Look into getting a cleaner tho - there's a high chance you currently earn more per hour than a cleaner will cost you.

Technically a shower cubicle has a drain not a plug but mine has this large circular filter type thing on it to catch hair...it's not very nice or easy to clean. Requires disassembly, with a screw driver :(
