I applied for a job in Sydney last month even though i've never been there. It was an internal trasfer.
I was told instantly I wouldn't get it because he needed to fill the position quickly and I wasn't available until next year (I have a long holiday in Australia that ends in November and my company wont let me leave in Q4).
However I did have a really good interview and my name is in the hat for the next position that comes up.
