Right, I was running Ubuntu Server 9.04 with a working install of webmin and a few other things.
I setup a module under Webmin so that i could check temps and fan speeds when i needed to.

However since i upgraded to 9.1 sensors no longer works.

I have tried sensors-detect and said yes to all of them, the entries are added to the file at the end, reboot, and try to run 'sensors' again but still get the message 'No sensors found!'.

Any ideas?

Perhaps it is a different version of lm-sensors that is now installed now you have upgraded to 9.10.

Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling lm-sensors (you may have already tried this). Alternatively check to see if there is a bug logged for this on launchpad and quick look indicates they are different versions.

Just my thoughts on this and how I would start troubleshooting.....

That does not sounds to good then.

I am running kernel 2.6.31-14-generic on a 64-bit 9.10 however my sensors do seem to be working on my gigabyte motherboard. My old Asus did have problems and some of the sensors never did work.

Anyway looking at that link it does seem to be a bit risky going back to the previous versions (unless I am misunderstanding it).

I tried acpi_enforce_resources=lax on 2.6.31-14 kernel and sensors works correctly.

Do you think its advisable to use this or not?

Normally i don't see the box boot up as i use putty. But it turns out without that switch I get several ACPI conflicts for smsc47m1 which I think is what lm-sensors uses.

I do not know exactly what the odd behaviour etc they are talking about but hopefully it would just be incorrect information being displayed. However the part where it says potentially it would change the voltage then I would be concerned - if it indeed changed the actual voltage on the mb.

Looking further into it I think they are saying the old way was wrong anyway and would have provided incorrect results'. All they have done is prevented this old way from being used and if you decide to use it then all your doing is running it how you used to (hope that made sense lol).

That's just how I see it.

Hmm interesting...

The 'Old way' always reported correct voltages and temps anyway compared to the bios.

Well ill try it for a few days and see if i get any problems with it. Thanks for the assist :)
