I want a sound card to use with guitar rig 2. (its a virtual guitar amp program) I want a lo latency sound card, what sound card would ppl recommend. budget about £50 can go higher if needed but would prefer not to

M-Audio 2496.

BTW - if you don't have one - you will need a pre-amp, or a mixer with pre-amps to use with this soundcard.

Something like the ART Tube MP would be ideal and would set you back £40.

Alternativly, the M-Audio Revolution series, the X-Fi's and most non-pro soundcards will have a rubbish, but functional built-in pre amp.

Since you're going to be heavily processing the sound with Guitar Rig, this might not matter.

The 2496 supports ASIO which is supposed to help latency quite a bit [not sure if that program you're on about does though, worth checking].

Yes - the ASIO support on M-Audio's stuff vastly outstrips that on Creative cards...

The Revolution 5.1 might be a good choice here due to its build in pre and decent ASIO support. It is £70 however.

The 2496/Preamp combination would sound superior however.

This is essential for low latency really - and I'm pretty sure Guitar Rig does support it - other NI VST's do anyway.
