Ah, now I can see where you are coming from, basically, geta work machine fully specced,a nd up to date with all the work issues, and when the idiots manage to get ThinkPoint virus from gumtree, or superspywaremagicantivirusvirus installed, then simply flip the switch and overnight return the machine to a fully working state.
Surely you'll waste more time setting this up and re-imaging every day than you'd lose on performance degredation? Just leaving it alone will use less time and effort.
this is true..........but one of the things you would obviously have to live with, many IT departments don't always keep up to date with all the updates because of the work involved........
That's due to cost, time and the fact that many businesses use specific software that might not play nicely with updates. As a home user, you're going to be doing yourself a disservice by running an outdated system; for the most part, the updates are there to benefit you.
Most IT departments will use WSUS and/or SCCM for updates on the network anyway so images are fine, those products give patching control regardless of the age of the image. As said by a few folks, you have to be careful at home as without manual intervention a lot of AV and OS patches will be missed unless you like being prompted for them every time you roll-back
