Loading From hardrive is a little slow sometimes

Been bugging me this has, but it seems sometimes when I say open an excel document it can take a good few seconds for it to load up but after saving one and opening another its almost instant.

Am I right in thinking there is a setting to change when the HDD is active? If that makes sense

Sounds it may be opening Excel from the hard drive, then it's being kept in RAM, then when you open your other document it's simply pulling Excel from memory and it only needs to access the small document from the HDD?

May be way off though.

Excel is on the SSD, can hard drives be set to like a sleep mode? Where the disks stop spinning after a certain period of time not in use?

In advanced power options you can set HDDs to never be turned off?

Not sure if that is the issue, perhaps worth a try
