loading large files now takes an hour

I chaps i have recently aded a slave drive to my pc and reformatted my old drive with windows xp home


when i had finished formatting the drive c and updated all the drivers and got the virus checker on so on and so on i decided to load one of my game that i had trouble getting to work since i bought it the game is 8gb in size

ok it would normaly take 10 mins to load into the pc but now it took nearly 80 mins ????

but worked fine

so i tried to load a 6gb game on one of the partions on my slave drive and that took 45 mins to load ???/

but this game crashed on loading


disk c: is 60 gb

disk D: is 320gb

I had to use D: as slave due to motherboard issues


any ideas why this could be happening please ! COS ITS DRIVEING ME DAFT

Do you have DMA enabled?

I'm guessing they are IDE drives?

This sometimes happens on old IDE drives if you have the slave/master/cable select jumpers set incorrectly... i.e. both drivers are set to master on the same cable.

the jumers on the new bigger drive are set to slave and the old drive is set to master
