Lock-on/Flaming Cliffs

Yeah ive been looking at that Falcon 4.0 game, but theres a load of different mods for it and dont have a clue which is best.

Falcon 4: Allied Force - Best for Falcon newbies and online play also runs stable as you'd expect from a retail game. Runs fine on Vista 32 & 64 bit when patched.

Falcon 4.0+Free Falcon - Best for visuals and effects, has some updated avionics. Online play problematic at best, can have CTD issues for some. Does not like Windows Vista.

Falcon 4.0 + Open Falcon - Falcon for the Hardcore simmer, don't even bother with this unless you're either a vetern Falcon AF or FF player or are an active service F16 pilot. ALL aspects of F16 avionics moddelled as accuratly as can be done on a PC, such as Datalink & Radios weapon systems mission planning the list goes on. However, online play is a tad difficult to setup and also has some issues with CTD's. Does not like Windows Vista.

Just pick the one that suits you the best. Oh and Free Falcon and Open Falcon are 100% free community projects.

Well Ill be mostly flying Flaming Cliffs and Allied force then, with the aim of moving up to Open falcon.

Any of you guys fancy regular play? I need someone to squad with for training, fun and playing on public servers :)

Well, I fly most evening during the week and at weekend with my VFW. The 72nd Virtual Fighter Wing, feel free to have a look at our website and forums. We have loads of members from all over the world and have a very extensive downloads section full of usefull info.

You don't have to join the wing in order to make use of the downloads or the forums, we're a very friendly bunch happy to help people out with the sim. We also have a large number of retired and active service members of both US and UK armed forces inluding USAF F16 groundcrew, B1B Weapon Systems Operators, AWACS controllers and RAF aircrew and groundcrew as well as people from every aspect of civillian life.

If do find yourself interested in becoming a member, we have a very detailed training program taught by a dedicated group of insructors including civillian commercial & private pilots.

I have the Stopworks F-16C Block 52 pit and the F16CJ wide pit for Falcon

Just few quid if i remember, normal pit which is very lush and a widescreen pit which is nice.

And must say Eddie 182 is correct on the comparisons of lock on and falcon.

ps. just remembered i have the original manual for Falcon which i won on the bay still very useable for new falcon Allied Force for flying.

Yeah they are very nice, I've got all 3 Stopworks pits and All 3 of Aeyes' widescreen pits myself. Only use the ws pits now though. They are up with hi-tiles in terms of essential addons.

Still have the original Falcon 4.0 cardboard retail box including all the manuals keycharts and korea fold out maps, even have the Prima strategy guide as well. And you're not wrong about them still being usefull, while a lot of stuff has changed things like formation diagrams and tactics are just as relevent as they ever were.

Got everything sorted now, fancy trying some formation flying Meloco? Ive not got my fighting profile setup yet, except for the su-25t that is.

Well lets see. No clickable cockpit, very little detail in avionics and no dynamic campaign engine. The radar model for the F15 is pretty good I suppose, but still it has a fair few errors.

LOMAC looks pretty yes, but I'll take function over form any day of the week. It's not an arcade game, but it's not a high fidelity sim either.

Well, that's because of all the jets you can fly. F4 only has one, which of course can then be more detailed.
