Lock screen playback controls on Nexus devices

Hi all

I've been stung before by the lack of lock screen media playback controls on the SGS3. Can anyone confirm if the Nexus devices all feature lock screen controls for media playback?

Can't you just download an app with lock screen media controls for your S3?

Either way the official Google Music player which is freely downloadable for all Android devices does indeed have lock screen music controls.

PowerAmp is the way forward for Android music players and has lock screen controls.

I found that all of the lock screen controllers were in place of the lock screen instead of just being integrated into it. I want the control to just be integrated in the default lock screen. Do the Nexus devices do this?

That looks good. Does it remain even when music is stopped so that you can continue playback later from the lock screen or do you have to go into the app to restart playback?

If I pause from that lock screen then put the phone back to sleep without unlocking the device, the next time I hit the power button to bring back up the lockscreen the media controls are still there waiting to be unpaused.

Is this the behaviour you are asking about?

Paused and stopped, I.e. I always want the controls to appear regardless of whether I was recently listening to something or not and for the device to remember what I was last listening to, be it a podcast or music etc.

This isn't possible currently with vanilla android 4.1 however android 4.2 can do this with the new lock screen widgets so for the Nexus 4 the behaviour you are after will be possible.
