Hi all,
Have been trawling the net looking for info on how to OC my machine,
PB iPower X8620, and have just read on the PB Forum that all their Motherboards are 'LOCKED':(

Is this true? Can they lock the board/BIOS?

Please help, if it is then it means a new motherboard

It uses an ASUS nVidia nForce 650i SLI motherboard, so you may well be able to use nTune to overclock within Windows.

The pic on the PB site looks very like the ASUS P5N-E.

Is it the P5N-E Sli? If so, then why not just flash the BIOS with the P5N-E BIOS?

Could be done. Tho I'm not going to recommend it incase it gets bricked.

Could it also affect the custom PB Vista install? I remember flashing an old PB MSI board with its standard BIOS and it locked-down XP. MS wouldn't do anything to unlock it other than telling me to contact PB.

:(:(:(Just downloaded and tried a 'coarse' tune up with nTune but knackered my PC up because as iv'e just discovered it doesn't support Quad core CPUs:(:(:(

how do you mean knakered?!.. and yep i've been there, had a pc world asus board, bios didnt have any overclocking tools, and asus overclocking software wouldnt recognise my board..

I'm pretty new to this game, but the screen went blue with a load of text about safe mode etc, so i restarted the machine, it hung on reboot and the HD was still doing something but it sounded like it was in a loop?!

Restarted it again and booted up in Safe Mode ok, so i went for a repair to last good state and it appears to have worked;)

Looking for a new board now,:( This PC is only 2 weeks old and iv'e spent about 1500.00 on it so far and still cant overclock:(
