Hey

Got home from a night out last night and my mate decided to try and open my windows.... so he pushed the lil button in and tried to twist the handle to open my window! Problem being: you didnt need to push the buttons in (where the key goes for the window) and u just had to turn the handle. I don't have any keys for them :(

So my windows seem locked forever with me, is there a way of opening them?
It's roasting here!

They aren't usually that secure, just jer-jiggle it a bit

I don't understand how we are supposed to help?

If you need replacement keys just go to a locksmith.

Contact the window company?

Assuming its modern double glazing, you need to gently slide a small piece of plastic underneath one of the seals holding the window in place, these are plastic that slot into your window frame... once one has been removed you can remove the others leaving a pane of glass which should be easily removable having its support removed, but you need a way of pulling it in from the outside... the best way to do this is to transfer energy to the window in order that it bounces back towards you after rebouding from the outside edge... SO. Get a brick, throw it straight towards the glass section and it should pop out nicely...

Your window sounds very similar to mine.

Provided you are not bothered about breaking the lock, find a strong screwdriver and slot it in to the lock, rotate it, you will hear some nasty plastic noises but it will turn. Then when you take the screwdriver out you will be able to use the button and move the leaver to open the window.

*I accept no responsibility for damage caused! :D

I wonder if this internet forum is the first place he turned to for help?

I'm not moody, but if you do want help with getting your window open, a locksmith or the manufacturer of the window is your first port of call.

Smear mustard on a regular key that roughly fits the lock and it becomes a skeleton key

Was waiting for a mustard related answer :D

Personally I would take off and nuke it from orbit.

if your windows are anywthing like mine, then a sharp impact from a brick/hammer in the direction of intended travel will break the small chunk of monkey metal that holds the handle closed.

funny enough, i went searching for keys in the house to see what would fit..

there was a key in the window of the kitchen door... luckily that worked! :D

Window locks are usually pretty easy to pick. Get yourself a small screwdriver and a paperclip, make a cup of tea and have a go.
yeh, thats what I'd do, use the screwy d as a tension wrench then rake the pins with the clip ;).
