Locking/password protecting folders in XP

I assume he's asking because there may NOT be alternate user logons. Otherwise each user would automatically have their own docs and settings that other users cannot get to......unless they're all admins....which would be nuts.... and funny, lol.

Nothing's wrong with it - I want additional protection on certain folders....i.e. if I lose my laptop, the baddy cannot see sensitive files/folders immediately after cracking the XP password.

Do you have the option to put a BIOS level password on the HDD? On mine it needs to be entered at power on and without it the HDD cannot be accessed. It's pretty uncrackable too, even our HDD specialists say once you lose it the data's gone.

Who would have thought something as trivial as this still can't be found on a Windows OS.

basically it's so idiot users in large companies don't 'forget their password' and give the admins a head ache

microsoft has a tool called 'private folder' google it

it's 100% unrecoverable if you forget the password though
