Locking Wheel Nut wont move!!!!

my bro (highways officer) tells me the RAC use a blowtorch roadside to do it?

Only way i can think that would work would be if they got the bolt tip softened and then hammered on the bit?

Heat can help because the metals expand at different rates.

I wonder if these studs are symetrical? or are the lugs slightly offset.

its just there is a set of mcguard studs finnishing in a day or so on a popular auction site.I would imagine they are slightly different but if the ones you have are perfectly symetrical then the may be the answer.

failing that, may be worth emailing McGuard

Hey, I found the other spare socket and it still didn't grip it so the bolt has taken damage.

Looked at the gator grip but i'm sure it wouldn't withstand the torque plus there's barely anything for it to grab on to.

McGuard made lot's of different patterns and I could send off for another key but like I said the bolt must be damaged aswell.

Had an easyout set but one of them snapped when trying to do a simple bolt so don't trust it and they claimed to be tough.

No way could I drill into it anyway, hardened steel, nigh impossible using conventional methods.

I've got someone looking at it tomorrow who has experience with these bad boys, by breaking the collar and using a threaded tool supplied by irwin to reverse it off with an impact wrench.

I'll let you know then I can get on with the disc conversion guide!!

thanks,

Won't one of these struggle to drill into a McGard nut though? As aren't they more resistant to drilling than steel etc?

They are made of ultra soft Aluminium hence the reason so many of the heads get knackered with whippy guns! I decent electric trill with metal bit will pee through one of these in seconds!

Got it off today :D :D

After muchos Impact Drillage! Air and battery. It took about 30mins! I can crack on now! Cheers for the help!
