Evening people,

I've cant a set of locking wheel nuts from my Mondeo and can't find the locking wheel nut key. I've searched high and low but still cant find it. Now I was wondering if a Ford Dealer will be able to remove them for me?

Cheers

A Ford dealer will happily remove them for you for a price, they normally charge about 1 hours worth of labour. The other option depending on the actual locking bolts, is to get a rachet bit that is slightly to small and use a big hammer. the bit should last for all 4.

i hammered a socket over mine, worked a treat. Although i think you would need one per nut.

This is what I had to do when my locking wheel nut key broke! Some spanner in a garage used an electric wheel nut remover... suffice to say I wont be going back there!!

Just dropped my car at my local Ford garage and I couldn't believe the price.

Removing all the locking wheel nuts
Supply and fit and new set

all for £50 all in. Not bad I think for a main dealer

Funnily enough i just had to remove one of mine this morning thanks to a puncture, as the previous owner lost the key, used the hammer on old socket method, worked a treat, might do the other 3 soon as the socket survived :D

When having new tyres fitted a month or so ago the fitter found that one of my front locking bolts had ben nicely rounded off.
He said this is a typical sign somebody had tried to get the wheel off without the key (why - for a set of factory fit Peugeot wheels??)
Anyway, took it to Peugeot dealership and indeed they were able to get the rounded one off for me for an half an hours labour charge - then of course he got to sell me a complete new set too.

remove them yourself

i had to do this when i had my car broken into. They stole the locking wheelnut but didnt nick the wheels, moved the car to my parents house for a week, and had to remove the locking nuts by force

in the end, used an old Spider Wheelbrace of my dads with a connector he didnt need (wrong size for his nuts). Got the one that was slightly too small for my nuts, and just bashed it on with a hammer. Rinse and repeat.
