Umm.. can someone try to create this notation in Logic Pro 8?

I can't quite see that clearly enough, but I don't think there's anything there that Sibelius can't cope with (at least not since version 2 when I last used it) :)

A crotchet and minim started in a chord (there's a quaver rest there too). Also probably as there's two melodies on the staves one in 3/4 and the lower in 6/8.. so I suppose I should just cut them out into two staves instead for simplicty.

You lucky mac owning buggers! I'm still stuck using 5.5.1 on the PC!

I kind of want to get a mac now. :(

Still, Reason 4 comes out tomorrow! :)

With Reason you get both windows and mac binaries on the first DVD of the pack (propellerheads demo Reason on the mac too so I think it's their development platform)... now you really have no choice but to get a mac :p :D

You can certainly do the former in Sibelius using different voices on one stave. The latter might be more manual but there wouldn't be anything to stop you setting the beat-grouping etc. manually if necessary.

I've done some very, very complex things in Sibelius 2, like 20-page long Schenkerian analysis as part of papers when I was at university. Even back then it was pretty flexible, although also a bit flaky when you pushed it ;)

My experience of Sibelius 5 demonstration may have been marred by (a) bloody awkward interface to a new user and (b) it crashing on the first attempt to try it.. perhaps I was a little impatient and was expecting a little more from it. :D

I know it seems odd using Reason but asking about notation abilities - that's because I'm putting more time into learning music theory (I'm certainally not at uni level!) and I'm looking at something that can do both styles to support this as I get better.

Man I really wish they did a try before you buy demo.. at ~£320 it's still just a bit beyond an impuse purchase price & resell if not suitable..

got my copy yesterday, along with a new 15" mac book pro. will post a mini review on 8 soonish when i get to use it a bit more, spent 2 years on 7 during my last years of a-levels, so fairly interested in this version.

coudnt believe the discount for higher education, i had to actually ask the guy on the phone to confirm that it was still the same product as the retail, and i can confirm for 118, you get the exact same as the 350 pound retail copy..

Pity apple don't allow direct discounting from retailers.

I suppose that they figure if you use it in your studies, when you get out into the wide world you'll buy the latest version at the higher price.

Still; I look forward to your review.
