Logitec Mx518 or the G5?

both look good but the G5 is in the sale so theres only 2 pound difference, is it the newer one?
any recommendations on them both or similar priced ones?

the G5 is the newer one as far as im aware. I personally have the MX518 and i really cant fault it, i love it. there are only small differences if you look at the specs for each.

A housemate has the G5 and the thing he likes most about it are the weights, i remember when the MX518 came out some people said that it was too heavy (i think it was the MX518) and now with the new G5 you can choose how heavy it is which is a plus.

I switched from MX518 to G5 a couple of years ago, was a bit of a downgrade tbh.
I actually prefer the MX518 but unfortunately I sold it.
The weights thing is cool but the buttons aren't as good.

Well the laser in the G5 is 'better' then the MX518 - BUT - it seems the MX518 has an updated version going around with 1800DPI, the normal one was 1600DPI and the G5 is 2000DPI.

Think I'd just go to some big electronics store and test them both out and make a choice, both lasers are v. good anyway...

MX518 is better than the G5 imo the buttons are better i will definatly be buying another as mine is prettymuch worn out

I've had both of these mice, and I must say the MX518 is much better than the G5 for gaming purposes.

I can't recommend the Razer Deathadder highly enough, fantastic mouse to use and looks the business too.
