Hi all

I have a Logitech G5 mouse, and when I am say half way down a web page and click on a link, if I return to the previous page using the back button on the mouse, it takes me to the top of the previous page rather than the line I was looking at. It's fairly annoying, especially when I'm browsing a very large page, as I have to scroll down again to find where I was reading.

Any ideas? Can't find anything on Google.

Have you got Setpoint installed? If not then you might need it or perhaps to reinstall it. I'm afraid I can't offer too much help since mine seems to work perfectly with a G7.

Yes I've got the latest setpoint installed and have tried reinstalling it. I registered with the Logitech forums so hopefully someone there will have an answer.

Thanks for the reply, will post back if I find the answer in case anyone else stumbles upon this.

Totally uninstall setpoint, I'm using no software for my G5 and the back feature works properly :p

yeah i've had this problem with the same mouse. Back button is dodgy with the new software.

In the setpoint, set the back button to 'generic button' instead of 'back' and it should work as it used to

Couldn't find the generic button option, but I've set it to keystroke Alt-left arrow and Alt-right arrow and it works fine now. Thanks all :).

The Latest Setpoint causes this, its a total PIA, and I blamed the SP1 Beta I was offically testing at the time, then it was still there on Final.

I found out about it evetually and removed the Setpoint and got older build : 4.00.126, on Vista64.

Im happy now.

There is little point using any Logitech hardware without the Drivers, you loose functions as MS drivers are basic.

I use Uberoptions also as add on to Logitechs: http://www.mstar.net/users/rlowens/

He asked for a solution, not dropping the Setpoint, I stick by my above comment and you may as well use a £5 mouse then as its lacking functions, even basic battery warnings.

So basically none of the above even remotely helps him.

Eh? All the basic functions work. The battery is indicated on the mouse itself so no need for windows/setpoint to alert me. I think my g7 cost like £70 when i bought it, i would hardly buy a mouse for that much and not use its software if it worked better with it. Everyone knows the setpoint software is pretty poor and can cause problems that you just dont need. The only benefit of using setpoint i can see is being able to reprogram some of the buttons to do different windows tasks but im happy with the buttons how they are - ie side button goes back, buttons by wheel increase/decrease resolution etc.

Its crap.

Disagree with that. Setpoint allows functionality that Windows drivers just cannot fulfill. Each button is hugely customisable esp with the Uber options.

In any case, the only (relatively minor) problem I have found with Setpoint is the above, and it has now been solved, so I certainly won't stop using it :).
