My beloved Logitech G500 has given up the ghost after 1.5 years. My left click keeps double/triple clicking itself, and when I play DOTA 2, it keeps opening and closing menus constantly and just in general being irritating and frustrating to use. Funny thing is, my Kone had the same issue after a year, but with the right click. Weird.

What are the best mice to go for now? Money is no object, just want quality.

I use palm grip, and in my view the Roccat Kone was the comfiest mouse I've ever used, closely followed by the G500. Main genres of games I play now are ARPG, MOBA & FPS, so thumb buttons wouldn't go amiss.

I like the look of the G700, which has a few decent thumb buttons on there to use, the Deathadder 2013 and the Roccat Kone XTD with easy shift, but I don't want to get stung again buying a pricey mouse which only lasts a year.

I know your pain, getting quality mice makes you think you need to pay a premium fee, although mostly they are the mice which are probably of lesser build quality.

My suggestion for a good all round mouse which will last you a long time, look towards
Possibly the ZOWIE EC1/2

As you said your "Palm Grip" type of person I am myself, a high raised palm area leading to a slim tip, would be ideal as your not claw. i'll list some palm suitable mice.

Zowie EC1 eVo 2300 DPI Pro-Gaming Mouse - Black/White

These mice replicate the old Intelli 3.0 explorer mouse, which was everyones favourite as a palm player, although doesn't come plagued with the scroll wheel of death, which the Intelli Mice come subject too after fair amount of use.

Pros
  • Sensor
  • Shape
  • Durability

Cons
  • Cable not braided
  • If not Glossy Finish, Rubberized material wears off after hardcore use

If your looking for a premium priced palm mouse you'd be looking along the

Razer DeathAdder Respawn 3500 DPI Black Edition Gaming Mouse
or the Mamba which is the wireless version of this.

I'd be fairly biased towards Razer recently although thats because I feel, in gaming mice there isn't any company which can match the longevity nor build quality and performance of Razer, as you can see in my previous Mice suggestion posts I speak highly of the Deathadder, I've used it since the first version and for years and through its reincarnations its just got better.

Other Palm Friendly Mice could be

Qpad OM-75 Pro Gaming Optical Mouse

Roccat Kone

I had a Razer mouse before, was lachesis (sp?). Was my first gaming mouse, and I loved it at the time.

I think I'll give the Razer Deathadder or Kone XTD a bash, but can't decide what would be better. I know the Kone is really comfortable, but I don't want to get stung by it malfunctioning again. I want something to last me at least 2 years.

Got a fully working Kone[+] for sale in the MM if that interests you. If not, I also recommend the Zowie.

I've had my Deathadder for almost 5 years, Still going strong and doesn't miss a beat so the longevity is there with the Razer products, Roccat I cant really talk about as I've not used one myself. but if you've had issues with one, can probably say issues may arise further down the line.

End of the day its personal preference ;) but hope my opinion helps.

err, go through logitech warranty and maybe get a replacement off them if there is still any warranty left on the mouse?

I'll give the death adder a try then :-)

I got the G500 as a gift, they won't have kept the receipt.

if theres any packaging /bits of the mouse left with a manufacturing date, you might be able to go off that
