Logitech vs Ocuk?

Hi,

I opened a case with Logitech as my G500 left click stopped working properly, they are telling me to go through my retailer (Ocuk) instead of dealing with them directly.

Bear in mind I purchased this mouse almost 3 years ago, should I listen, or are they giving me bad advice? Don't often hear of people going back to the retailer after almost 3 years, especially if the manufacturer is well renowned for dealing with RMA requests expediently.

Thanks!

Make a thread in the Customer Service section with your order number, and say that Logitech has said this, and we will swap it out for you, ASAP (If it is still under warranty).

I had a graphics card fail on me, wasn't sure on the warranty with it though so posted on here about it. gave OcUK a quick phone and quoted my purchase order from a few years previously, they said the warranty was still valid so i sent the card back, they tested it and sent me a replacement.

Depends on how long the warranty of the mouse is though.

Can do, is this standard practice for Logitech RMA's at the moment?

I've dealt with them direct before and it went fine, doesn't make sense for them to involve a 3rd party (as presumably you will receive my return, and then have to return it to Logitech anyway).

I believe it takes the ease off them a bit. - Logitech are usually very good with us when it comes to returns which means our turn around can be pretty quick if not sometimes instant.

I tried the same with my Logitech G35s, they told me to go to the retailer, so I just did it all myself at OcUK. :)
I wanted to test Logitech's service as I heard good things, so just did it myself which was as quick as I could do it! Same would be for you too.

How long does Ocuk actually provide warranty for Logitech products though? If I was to purchase a new one right now how long would I realistically have to return it to Ocuk if necessary?

I normally find that most reputable retailers will support a product for a reasonable time after purchase (f.ex 1-2 years) and after that it's down to manufacturer warranty. Which to be honest for decent manufacturers is fine by me, and I often find manufacturer RMA is simply better than going 3rd party via the retailer anyway.

I would personally rather deal direct with Logitech, will they turn me down if I ask them to do you think?

A few years ago my G5 mouse packed in, it was out of warranty. But logitech replaced it for free with a G500. One of the best manufacturers in the business when it comes to customer service.

They have cracked down on this in the last few years. I'm not going searching, but there was a thread on here where we found someone on eBay submitting false RMAs with their buyers details. IIRC the person at Logitech that OCUK deals with got involved and all sorts.

Still a great company to deal with, but you may get a little less out of them than you once did.
