Hi, bought these speakers form overclockers.co.uk about a month ago, and i was amazed by there sound quality, but i am experiencing a problem at high sound levels and i am wondering weather i have a faulty unit.

When the volume is turned up to about 16 out of 20 bars or w/e there called, and i then have the subwoofer on about half and sometimes full, i hear this kind of sound coming form the subwoofer, it happens on strong bass, if you tap 2 of your fingers on a wooden table 1 after each other, thats what the sound coming from the subwoofer sounds like, and i dont think its an issue with sound quality or interfierence, it sounds like hardware within the subwoofer, maybe the speaker is defective i dunno :\

has anyone else with this speaker system experienced it? anyone have an idea what it could be?

i had it since i got it, i am thinking about getting overclockers.co.uk to replace it, but dunno how to and i dont want to be withought these speakers for a long period of time coz they rock!!

i dont know if its distortion becouse the sound coming form the sub seems the same just with this added wierd sound as i describes in the frst post.

the sub aint on a surge protector, i have allready contacted logitech.

the sub is about 1.3M away form the computer, the sub aint going to fail, its just at hihg levels i get that wierd noise as described in first post, and that noise just cant be interfierence, it sounds like hardware, is it possible to unscrew the front and take the speaker out to have a look at it?

ah, yea at high volume i was looking in at the sub's speaker and it was like moving back and forth pretty rappidly, i think when i heard it, the middle of the speaker was more in, but still, this is a 188watt system and the bass at that level is barely more than the 80Watt sony subwofer downstairs on the home theatre setup :s, does it do damage hitting the stop thing?

i bet all people with the Z5500's have had some sort of complaint, i got a letter through the post from the district council becouse someone complained lol, what boring people like aorund me that like to complain.

lol, sliding accross your floor, that would be a good sight to see :p, i can have the speakers on full 20 bars, only on some songs the speakers destort when i push it onto 10-11 BOOST.

Scott, what type of music were you playing, andcan you name some specific tracks you were playing when the system was at full? then i can try em and see what happens.

am using crap intergrated sound, at 10-11 on boost with some songs the speakers destort, but i never had sub above 2 when on boost.

how much it cost to get a decent 12" sub?, on ebay i seen somthing like 15" 5000w sub for £200, wanted to get it, but i dont know anyhting about amps and stuff and were to get em.

and even at that loudness i can hear myself talk but it's very loud, but i dont find it loud enough, maybe i just have bad hearing?

search for this song called Poison, its not an old song, this dance crap song, cant remember if it is poison or somthing, but try to find it, turn your sub up full and then put volume up to about 16-20bars, still nothing wierd coming form the subs?

also, if i dont have use the equilisers on my comp, everyhitng sounds crap coz of the sound chip.

jeeze, how much you actually pay alltogether?, whats total wattage of those subs?

oh, now i can have the sub on full now i put the equilizers all to 0 lol.

i think i had sub on +12db

i think its working now.

i am a gamer, i ams tuck between getting a decent sound card which i really want or an x1900xt, its really hard choice lol

so how good exatly is the sub of the z5500, does it perform like any other 188watt rms sub, or can it perform like some 1000watt rms subs?

i dont think it will be bottlenecked, my cpu is a 3700+ at 2.8ghz.

The z-5500 system is best system i have owned too, the speakers dnt go as loud as the 50watt ones on the system downstairs, but the speakers have more bass on em than the oens downstairs and are better quality.

i think its sorted, the speaker aint hitting the grill tho lol, it must have been hitting somthing behind the actual cone.

i dont know how you even manage to push those beasts hard, i cant even push my z5500 system hard coz it shakes the house too much lol, you must live in the middle of nowere to in a caravan lol.

in that pic with the sub in the wall, looks like your in a caravan coz of all the holes in the wooden wall.

i have my subwoofer sat on one of the polystyrein padding things from the z5500 box, the polystyrein was on one side of the sub.

i wonder if it will be better under my bed?

on ebay i seen these 10 and 12" subs that have like 6" magnets on them and they look massive, how big is the magnet in the z5500's subwoofer?

also is the z5500 actually at its limit with full 188watts power or is it just limited to that, could it actually have the potential to be 3 or 400 watt?

ah well, i looked on the web and cant even find anyhting about the subwoofer, i might open it up at the weekend, i need a guide tho.

do you think its impossible to increase the watts of the sub from say 188watts rms to maybe 200 or 250? or is it impossible?

also, if i took the sat speakers off the z-5000 and then added say some 300watt car speakers, (150watt x2), would they work, or is the sub or somthing programmed to only send 62watts max per channel or if all channels exept 2 were not been used could it pump 150watts through on each channel?

ah, for under £200 would i be able to like get an amp and speakers that could litrally blow the z-5500 away and work on a computer aswell?

would be nice to have a system more powerfull than the z-500 that uses less electric aswell, coz my mum is barmy and doesent like it when the electric meter is flying around :(

the sub on my z-5500 is more than enough for me, but i would like a sub that can shake the whole house :p, and some speakers than can go loud coz these sat speakers on the z-5500 aint loud enough, they are for most people, but they only just make my ears hurt :\

on some guides on the net it says, the more watts the better and louder it can go.

Its possible, when the box with the speaker system is first opened, you get a little message on some paper telling you that it should not be place less than 2FT (1M) near a computer or any other electrical equipment.

i think i was the one that said about the desk, its now on the floot, the port is actually facing the wall, its 4" away from the wall, its in a good place really as the speakers reach all around the room so i have propor surround sound.

When you have it close ot a pc, how loud are the local radio stations? can you change the radio station by moving the sub? :p

I know the logitech z5500 are refered to as naff by a lot of people with High End Hi-Fi's, but maybe there should be a Logitech Z5500 club for everyone who has them, even tho some people with the z5500's dont really like them much.

Also someone once said somewere that they put the sub right near there pc and both of there hard drives were destroyed.

With isolation spike does it minimize vibration and increase bass? i as thinking about maybe getting some for the z5500 sub but instead i cut 4 2" 3x3 pieces of wood and places the in each corner of the front of the sub (not scresed them on) and had the sub downfacing, also under the 3x3 stand i put some wood so its how a lot of propor subs are.
