Hi

I am looking at purchasing either the Z5400's or 5500's. I prefer the look of the 5400's but want to make sure they will work OK with my current setup..

I have a HDTV, PVR (freeview box) and a PS3, can these be connected OK and what will I require to connect to what?

Does anyone know what additional (if any) leads I will need to order?

Cheers

AFAIK, they have one optical in on them. So you will only beable to have the PS3 or PVR plugged in at once.

Bah, ok looks like I'll have to go for the 5500's :(

I take it there's no other way of connecting the PVR?

Cheers anyway :)

Buy proper audio gear. My unit has 5 coaxial inputs, coaxial output, and 3 optical inputs. You're not stuffed when you want to add a second DVD player, Blu Ray, CD player, etc etc etc.

Update:

I've just had a look at the back of my PVR, and it only excepts red/white audio. Does that mean I can use the 5400's?

Cheers

The 5400's accept two optical cables, the Z5500's one. I've had both sets and the only thing I like better on the Z5500's is the control box.

You can buy optical splitters for a couple of quid from the bay. No sound loss AFAIK. At most you'll have to put the equipment your not using on the splitter into standby.

Can anyone please confirm whether both my PVR & PS3 can be connected to the Z5400's as I really want to order them soon :)

Basically as far as I can tell I will need one optical for the PS3 and one set of the red & white audio connections for the PVR?

Also if I can use the Z5400's does anyone know if these leads are supplied or do I need to order them at the same time?

Cheers

Z-5400: 2 optical inputs, 1 coax input, 3 stereo inputs

Z-5500: 1 optical input, 1 coax input, 3 stereo inputs

You need to buy the leads seperately as far as I know.

Also stupid question I know but does anything need to be connected to my TV? or do I just connect the leads to the PVR & PS3?

Arrh I just ordered the Z5400's and then found a post in the AV forums showing the back of the sub and it doesn't have the connection for my PVR :( Now I need to get this order canceled & fast before they get dispatched, can anyone tell me if the Z5500's have the right connection (red & white plugs)

Cheers

I think the sub will have 3.5mm in so you need a 2XRCA to 3.5mm cable.
The speakers are meant for pc use after all

Well I've recieved my Z5400's :)

All good except I'm only getting sound through the front speakers going through my PVR. Is that right?

It's connected via the 3.5mm jack

Cheers
