Hi

I have a logitech Z5500 speaker system and its been great but lately it has started to play up. The backlight on the control panel is flickering at random has anyone had this problem before? I had a search online but can only find info on blowing fuses which i have never suffered from.

Also sometimes when i power up the Z5500 it gets stuck in standby mode (red light) and i have to use the remote control to switch it on to the (blue light) pressing the button on the control unit does nothing.

Apart from the flickering its all working ok

Anyone had this or do you think its a problem and take this up with logitech?

Cheers

Leigh

I've had the backlight flicker and after a while it stopped working all together.
I emailed logitech support and they sent me a replacement in the end after being asked to smash it up and take a picture along with the PID/Serial number, needless to say i didn't do it and about a month later i got a replacement control pod.

The phone support was substantially better so i'd try and ring them if you can, it should be sorted no problem.

An old post I know, but I must thank you for posting it. As a result of this I chased Logitech up and they are sending me a replacement control pod :)

this is just the control pod thats the problem and not infact anything to do with the fuse? Im getting a replacement sent as well. Im confused to why so many of these things go???

No. If the backlight of your control pod goes, see if you can get a new one. If the whole system stops working, it is the fuse. I have had both happen

Glad i could help, hope you enjoy your new control pod.

Tbh I didn't realise Logitech had such great customer service. What stopped me RMAing it originally was the vision of having to send the whole system back! They simply asked me to try resetting it. When that didnt work they asked for the product details, my address and a picture of the control pod or proof of purchase - I sent both :). They then sent the pod out within a few hours. Gotta love that kind of service!

Lmfao... what? Really? They asked you to smash it up and take pics? Haha, they asked me for my speaker cables back when my Z5500 stopped working but that was all they asked.

Common practice now. Pictures or videos of you destroying it is all the proof they need for them to send a replacement.

Pretty sure they once offered a prize for the most original disposal method sent into them.

i have your identicle problems with my z5500's. The freezing doesnt happen often anymore, but i do have one corner of the LED backlight flickering. Neither of them bother me though, have had the speakers for years and years and they still sound awesome :D

EDIT - holy hell ive just read up! Im gonna be doing this today! New replacement control unit here i come!

<3 is there no maximum warranty? must be 3 years since i had mine or so

2 years for me and you will need proof of purchase or to take a picture of your speakers.
