Logmein just 'took' money from my PayPal account

Noticed over the weekend they'd helped themselves to about £15 from my PayPal account to renew a Hamachi account.
a) Not a single email or notification was made to me.
b) I thought you have to 'click' to pay via paypal. I didn't realise companies could debit without consent!?

Trying to chase them now for a refund...

Small print? Well, I certainly don't recall getting any notifications (eg: emails)...

And it's definitely news to me that companies can come along and help themselves to your Paypal account!

I've looked at my Hamachi account and can't even see a "renewal" option to auto renew?! What's to say they won't do the same next year!

It is renewing an existing account? Presumably you paid by paypal for that in the first place? You probably agreed to a recurring payment being set up then... The agreement will be on your paypal account somewhere if so.

If the initial payment was set up as a Paypal Subscription then they can renew it without further action on your part.

Well done! Looking at PayPal the payment a year ago seemed to have been created as some sort of subscription! Didn't realise that!

A curtsey email would have been nice!

PayPal subscriptons have been going on for years, and you should always get a mail when your account is debited. Check your spam folder.

^^ I get regular emails from paypal, and indeed log me in... Fairly sure I didn't get anything RE this...

Anyway, phoned them and got it refunded!

Never thought about it being a PayPal subscription as never used them!

Yeah, back in my World of Warcraft days, I hired a Team Speak server for a few bob per month and that was via Paypal. I know I could have ran my own TS server but I'm not clued up on that side of IT. Then when Blizzard killed the game with The Burning Crusade expansion, I was able to cancel the payments.
