When I installed the .Net framework it created a new profile (ASP.NET), now when windows boots it stops at the login page an I have to click my profile to finish loading - obviously this is a royal pain, but I don't seem to be able to get rid of it - I've tried playing about in the user profiles section, but all I can do is switch off the 'easy' startup leaving me with the old type in your username page.

I know there is a simple solution but can't for the life of me remember what it is - I thought you could set a default user that it automatically boots to, but can't seem to find the option?

Start > Run >'control userpasswords2' > Enter. It's all in there. The other alternative is to download TweakUI from Microsoft which has an autologon feature as welll as lots of others :)

It did this one my install of XP Pro as well, I just keep deleting the account and it sods off.

Anybody know how to stop it coming back?

Are you running .Net framework 1.1 by any chance? If so, install .Net framework 2.0, as it should fix the annoying problem.

It works, it works it works!!!!! Thanks - saved me a whole world of pulling my hair out - it was indeed a rubbish version of .Net framework hosing things up :p
