lol NEXT...

I already have an account thanks, I signed up about a fortnight ago and the option existed then.

£10.50 via paypal or bank transfer to the first person who finds this option and provides proof (valid until midnight)
http://www.next.co.uk/

I'm confident it does not exist but in the event that I am wrong I am willing to put a meagre sum on the line enough for you to be the lucky purchaser of three NEXT catalogues if you so wish

It gives you an option of not taking the catalogues which is what I opted for when I signed up. None have appeared as yet!

I've paid for the items I have ordered so far by credit card and now no details regarding credit appear on my account details.

When you're checking out via debit/credit card does it give you the option to put the goods on a credit account?

Not mention on being billed for the first one, it states the first is free and you will be billed £3.75 for all there after.

It looks like if I had stuff delivered to home I could pay on account but because I choose to collect in store it does not give me the option for security reasons. I'm quite happy to not have stuff on account, I prefer to know where I am.

Security at NEXT is still poor then. About 6 months ago my wife tried creating a new account to use a new customer voucher, using same name and address, but a different email address. Anyway rather than the system creating a new account it logged her into the existing account just updating the email address and password. So effectively you can takeover an existing credit account into a new email address just knowing a persons demographics. No idea if it's still an issue, we did contact them but they weren't interested!

Comparing those two pics it looks like there is an issue with the website as bitslice's screen shot says "would you like a Next directory" but the options are missing.

Arknor - if you call them and explain they should refund the money and can change your account to be paying by debit/credit card only rather than giving the choice of either on checkout.

I had to switch mine when an ex decided to hack into my emails and hack my Next account

I just did, and there is an option...

Read the rest of the tread, some people have an option, other don't.

Either way the option is for a FREE directory.

It only says you will be billed for the directories after the first FREE one. They even capitalise FREE.

lol I read this and then open a fortune cookie which says 'Always read the small print'

Does sound pretty dodgy of NEXT though, if they've given you a credit account I'd check it's not showing on your credit file.

Point out where it says you will be billed for the first directory?

So if you sign up for a NEXT online account by providing a name and address, you're agreeing to a credit account being created (subject to a credit search) as soon as you use your card to buy an item?

I just did, and there is an option...

no there is no option because if you say you do not want a FREE next directory you get billed 3.50 for it instead.

there is no option to not have a catalogue at all.

anyway I checked citizens advice and I'm good.

Why? I wasn't trying to say it does. Just found it funny how there was all this talk of the small print and low and behold what do I find inside my fortune cookie. Apologies if it came across like I was trying to say it's arknor's fault for not reading the small print.

Under this introductory offer, if you place an order before 14th July 2014 you will receive a refund to your account for your first copy of the Next Directory. We will notify you before we send any additional publication allowing you the opportunity to cancel it. If you decide not to place an order, you will be charged £3.75 for your first Next Directory

Sounds like their idea of 'FREE' is giving you a refund if you place an order. Doesn't sound free at all if you ask me and very deceiving of next to be trying this on with everyone. Nor does it make it clear whether this is with regards to your first directory after the free one or whether this is why they think the first one is free when it isn't. Even if you do read the small print you don't really know what is going on.

I don't know why everyone is being so harsh to the OP. I wouldn't have assumed that I was signing up for anything other than an account to purchase with. Honestly, who really reads the small print unless it's very important?

Dubious practice from NEXT.
