I was sotrting out my mates DOA striker and I didn't realise he had his floppy power in one of the fan sockets :p

I must have spent over 2 hours over the last week trying to connect Dreamweaver to my server, tried every different combination of possible settings I could think of.

Turns out I'd gone and blocked Dreamweaver with my firewall...

When I started messing around taking computers apart, I decided to change the little black switch on the back of the power supply from 250 to 500.. and switched the pc on with my face right around the back of the pc, it blew it up, smoke and a huge bang, fun times!

hehe, I did the same years a go. It gets well smoky doesn't it. It also set off the smoke alarms in the house too :D:D

I was fitting a heatsink to a motherboard once, the kind with the push through plastic pin things. After fitting I turned over the motherboard and decided to trim one of the plastic pins a little with a knife. I used one of those sharp modelling knifes. Upon trimming I applied a little too much force and the knife slipped and gouged into the motherboard. Unfortunately I cut through the ram lines to one of the modules. :) I had to buy a brand new mobo.

back in the day, when i was setting up my new computer (nf7 v2, xp 2500px-m never been so excited i was even ready waiting for the postman in the morning) i was very carefull putting everything together, so carefull that i used a pair of tweezers when trying to get a screw in a small gap. any how everything set up nice and neat turn it on everything kicks in then dies 10 seconds later! spent hours trying different things even took apart my mates computer to try his cpu/psu/ram etc. in the end had no luck and assumed the motherboard was out.

That evening i got a splinter in my finger from an old door, it had wedged itself deep so off i went to get the tweezers... But i couldnt find them anywhere! thinking they must be about i only used them this morning!....then it hits me.......guess where i found them!

under the motherboard shorting everything out!

put it back together and to my joy it all worked!

First ever scratch build saw me forget the brass spacers and screw the motherboard directly to the steel case. For some reason it wouldn't boot...*whistles*
