LOL what could my restart in safe mode button be on bootup?

I tried f8 thinking it would be that, but that's my device boot order?

YOu're pressing it too early. You need to let the BIOS do it's thing, then, just as it hands over to the windows loader, you need press F8 like a rabid monkey.

it is F8.... you need to escape out of your boot order, then be right back on the f8 key

alternatively i believe the F5 key will also bring up the boot menu.

what mobo you got? Mines asus and I have to press F8 straight after the boot screen menu to get safe mode.

ok, when i try i just get a 'choose a proper boot device' or something similar and then press a key and it repeats, so f8 doesn't seem to work.

I don't want to start pressing anything just in case i do something really wrong.

F5 will do it

OR


start run - type msconfig, press ok, goto boot ini... tick /SAFEBOOT box, restart.

do same in safemode and untick it for "normal" boot

i just wait for my windows screen to load, then restart before it gets into windows so next time the pc boots it comes up with that "windows did not start right" screen which has the safemode option on it will try the f8 key now

What make is the computer? PB by any chance if F8 is bring up a boot device menu.
