London stuff to do?

Definately visit madame tussauds. I took a pic of Davina McCall... when I got home and looked at the photos, I could see her waxy boobs through her top!

Okeydokey here's some ideas...(assuming nice weather..lol)

Day 1

(optional if you're an early riser) - Hop on Northern line to Hampstead, have a wander on Hampstead Heath and get a glorious view of the whole City, brilliant. Wander back to the Tube and grab brekkie in a café then hop back on the Northern line and go to:

Chalk Farm. Come out of the Tube and walk down into Camden Town, visit the market/High Street then go down onto the canal and walk to the Zoo and have a look around which takes you to lunch - pop back into Camden or go to Primrose Hill and get something there.

After lunch, walk down through Regents Park (you could even go by Madame Tussauds if you want:p )and then on to Oxford Circus. Wander along Oxford St (OMGZ shopz :p) then cut down through Soho to Piccadilly Circus and then to Leicester Square, then round to Covent Garden just in time to grab the pre-booked pre-show meal & show deal (lastminute.com) and watch a show in the evening, have a few drinks afterwards then head home.

Day 2

Hop on the Overground at New Barnet to Kings Cross then Circle Line to Tower Hill. Check out the Tower of London, Tower Bridge etc. Walk through the City along Bishopgate and see the Lloyds building, the Gherkin, Tower 42 etc, walk to Bank and see the Royal Exchange then:

alt 1. From Bank you can walk to St. Pauls Cathedral, then cross over the Millennium Bridge and check out the Tate Modern, have lunch around there.

alt 2. Walk to and cross over London Bridge and go to Borough market and get lunch there. Walk up to the Tate Modern and have a quick browse. Cross over Millennium Bridge, see St Pauls, walk along North Bank and cross back over Blackfriars bridge.

Then walk along the South Bank, check out Globe Theatre, London Dungeon, Millenium Eye etc, wander along all the way to Westminster. Cross over the river there and see the Houses of Parliament, then walk up through Whitehall and check out Downing St etc and you find yourself in Trafalgar Square. Walk up to Piccadilly Circus then go into Chinatown and get some awesome Chinese food, then afterwards go to 'Ain't nothin but the Blues', a cool venue where they have live music etc on all the time and have a few beers then head home.

Day 3

Overland to Kings Cross, Victoria line to Oxford Circus, then Bakerloo to Lambeth North/Elephant & Castle. Walk to Imperial War Museum and check it out. Afterwards, hop on tube to Embankment, then get the Circle/District line west to South Kensington. Eye up all the posh totty, then go to the National History Museum/Science Museum/V&A (any/all 3 + lunch somewhere in between). After museum, walk up to Hyde Park then wander along to Buckingham Palace, then walk along Piccadilly to Green Park and then back into West End.

*phew*

:p

Well there is four of going up, all students into different things. The Science Museum looks a must, we are looking at the Aquarium museum whats that like?

My god Rich L, Day 2 involves a lot of walking! Good ideas though - although I would incorporate Borough market on day 2 depending on the day of the week.

Heh yeah, pack some comfy shoes :p

Borough market is cool, but it's a bit of an either/or with St Pauls or that part of the South Bank as you have to cross London Bridge. I suppose you could nip across the Millennium Bridge, see St Pauls then come back across Blackfriars bridge would work :)

Plus they're all the main tourist sites, but personally I love the Royal Courts of Justice and the Inns of Court etc which are amazing, especially given their history and you could even wander in and watch a case being conducted in the public gallery, which I'd probably rather do than the South Bank :)

Rich L talks sense (but heavens that's a lot of walking!), but for GOD SAKE don't go to Madame Tussades, it's a massive rip off, and is just for foreign tourists.
Honestly, London has some incredible places to visit, Madame Tussades is NOT one of them.

Agreed, Madame Tussauds is just one of those places peopl feel they have to visit when in London, tbh its not that great, far better things to do/see in 3 days.

:p

Haha you guys make it sound like it's a marathon each day :p Central London really isn't that big! Plus by walking you actually take in more of the sights and sounds rather than being crunched up on a tube :p

Thats a brilliant guide Rich!

For some reason I thought the Borough market was only open at weekend... I am thick :(

Tate is mostly free so I would say go there... interesting exhibits too :)
And another vote for Camden - LOVE IT!!! The food stalls are AMAZING!

BB x

Avoid Camden like you avoid Syphillis. EDIT: If you want the ****s for the next year then go and eat at the sub-standard food stalls around camden market.
If you do have the misfortune, go and have a browse in CyberDog. Like going to a free rave :p

Go there at your most likely peril.

Rich L made good suggestions on the whole.

To add my two pence:

British Museum is the best going. Imperial War museum's a good one. Trafalgar Square, some good pubs near enough to make it worth it. Go take a trip to The Harp which is between Trafalgar Sq and Covent Garden. Eat at Rules. Eat at Claridges. Eat at Yauatcha. You will not be disappointed by any of those. If it was a one choice only I'd take Rules.

Walk to the river. Walk along the Embankment or cross one of the many bridges and walk along the southbank near the NFT etc.

Tower of London is the only truly compulsorary tourist attraction. It's ******* sweet as.
Go watch some Shakespeare; the RSC are fantastic.

Go to Fabric for a massive one. SeOne is a good nite out too.

Not recommending trying to find somewhere worth going out in Soho. Perhaps Madam Jojo's if you're hell bent on going to the Camden of that borough.

If a freak show is what you're after then go to the following (by night or by day):

Camden Town. Get off at Mornington Crescent, pass Koko, laugh at the freaks there. Proceed towards CT tube. Marvel at more freaks. Head towards the market. More freaks.
Brixton, so you can say you went there and survive to your out of town friends. It's actually perfectly safe and there are some things that might warrant doing down there.
If you're feeling brave head into Hackney. Perhaps even venture up to Dalston.

Go to the Regency in Queensbury for Voltar's no.1 curry in the world.
Go up to Wembley and see the 'diversity'.

Bond St for shopping.

A good venue which is unfortunately located in Camden is the Jazz cafe. Check it out. It sometimes has some very, very good acts there, and is a good place to see some reggae if it's on.

Have fun and watch your wallet on the 29. :p

If you want some live music in the evening head to the Kings Head on Upper Street in Islington. I have never been disappointed in there and have always enjoyed the atmosphere.

Be a tourist and see the Tower of London, St Pauls, Westminster Abbey, British Museum, Tate Gallery, Tate Modern, London Zoo and see a film at the IMAX. That lot should wear you out during the day. :)

Great guide for me Rich and Voltar thankyou, im looking at some resturants now there are some top notch resturants around but wow some of the prices are insane. But i think its something i will want to do as the four of us like our good quality food.

As for the aquarium, no one has really said anything is it worth visiting and worth the money?

Haven't been for aaaages, but it was very very cool, but I love Aquariums just watching the fish etc :)

You're right that some of the restaurant prices are insane, but if you're a bit canny you can eat reasonably cheaply because of all the competition, especially in the busy areas! Keep an eye out for set menus of 3 courses for example, especially mid-week there are often deals on. Or places like Belgo (previously mentioned) are good value as well.
