Basically I have had a hard disk die on me, and it's the only drive that was not backed up (I know stupid me).

The drive in question is a Western Digital WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200RPM 16MB cache drive, I have a feeling it's a controller issue since the drive seems to be spinning up fine and there is not undue clunking or clicking coming from the mechanical side of the unit.

Here is where I need your help, does anyone have one of these drive laying around or in fact in use that they'd be willing to sell or swap? I'd happily buy you a 1TB new drive with a full warranty from OCUK and ship it to you in exchange for your old WD7500AAKS.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Its not as simple as getting the board from the same drive model, you also need the same firmware to match on the the one your replacing.
Just because they are the same model it does not mean they also have the same firmware.

I know but looking around there was only a very small number of firmwares for this drive the one I have is a 00RBA0 which seems to be the most popular, either that or I am reading the info from the WD forums wrong, either way I appreciate your input. :)
