Long shot, but wtf do I do in Cullen for a week?

Not much to do here apart from play with the sheep.

I'll bring my wellies in case SO isn't in the mood then... :D

Spotty Bag Shop in Banff.

You know that the pubs in Scotland, you can only drink outside? Drinking outside in Cullen, in October, for a week, would be very grim.

Could you take a tent? You can wildcamp pretty much everywhere (no trespass law up here), if it's nice weather a hike and camp would be lovely. But it won't be nice weather.

We've got a lovely looking AirBNB as a base so tenting is definitely not happening unless the sheep thing above becomes a viable alternative. ;)

Would I be able to get one of those curling things made from Elgin marble?

The place is called 'Cullen' (?) and they have something called 'Skink' (?). Besides sampling this delight and probably freezing my todger off, does anybody have any idea what there is to be done there?

Cullen is near here. Cullen skink is delicious. You're well placed for many National Trust properties. I was at Brodie Castle last week and it was nice. Culloden battlefield is a good visit. The descriptions were a bit biased when I last visited, though. You should be able to see whales and dolphins and seals on the coast. And then there's the Great Glen.

At Cullen, you're on Speyside. There are distilleries galore.

Stock up on Smidge if you're going to go walking.

I've bought a freezer box for the car to transport an irresponsible quantity of locally made haggis home :D

You're just along the coast from Peterhead which is now the main fishing port.

  • get runted
  • go to Glenglassaugh Distillery
  • get runted again
  • repeat daily untill the day you leave

I think the distillery might be closed to the public though due to covid, but not sure.

This is a good shout if that's your sort of thing.
It's been closed for runway resurfacing for a while with the Typhoons relocated to Leuchars but the runway reopened last Monday and they're back now. Also some of the brand new Poseidon planes have arrived. 3 there at the moment, I'm not sure on the timescale for the others arriving. They post a lot of updates on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RAFLossiemouth

Elgin castle, west of the runway is worth a visit also great if the wind is blowing that way as they come low over the castle when doing touch and goes.

Fab, these are great suggestions, thanks! :)

No problemo
