Looking for a long shoulder strap, not really sure where to start seeing as there are so many on Amazon.

Recommendations?

Sorry, they don't really mean anything to me!

Not really sure what type if strap I'm after, as long as it fits to the thread on the base of the camera unit and doesn't wear/tear too easily, I'm happy. Cheaper is better, but obviously it needs to be reliable.

Do they come with secondary attachments or fixtures for what the standard camera uses?

Black Rapid and OP-tech are brands you can search around for :) Do some googling and you'll find allsorts of stuff available.

I have a Black Rapid and I think it's great, my step-dad has an Op-tech and he prefers that. There are plenty of good review/comparison videos for them on Youtube.

I only bought my camera the other week, but I've been looking a lot at the peak designs stuff, the idea of a whole system that works together appeals, and I fancy the hand strap, sling strap and rucksack mounting plate!

I hate the standard canon neck strap so far, it seems to be too short and too long all at the same time. And too grippy! Currently using the camera without it and preferring it so far.

What camera do you actually have and what do you do with it?

It's all very well saying Blackrapid but if you have an Olympus Pen and shoot mostly indoors then it's overkill to say the least. If on the other hand you lug a D800 round with a 24-70 then maybe it's a good idea!

Also are you one of those weirdos that have your strap round your neck and camera bumping on your chest or someone that carries it properly over the head and shoulder and down the side/lower back?:p

EDIT: www.etsy.com is a good option if you have a lighter camera and don't do much hiking. Has lots of designs from independent makers.

Thanks, I will look around and see what I prefer.

I have a Canon 7D and it's mainly when I go out to wildlife locations with my 70-200mm F/4L, I need something more comfortable than then neck strap when carrying the camera on my back with my lens sticking out - want to avoid knocking/bumping it.

have a look at these
http://www.qstrap.co.uk/ he is a reliable guy to deal with and the strap seems fine, a lot cheaper than black.r straps if your a tp forum member you can get a discount as well. have a look on the dealers section on there

How have Blackrapid not got him taken down yet!? He's blatently ripping them off, from the design to the style of the strap, even down to the logo!

Thanks, I will look around and see what I prefer.

Then Blackrapid or the qstrap would be a good bet then. :)

he is a reseller not the maker, and as both q-strap and black rapid are Chinese ,there laws are very different on copyright

Purchased the Q Strap and I must say, very impressed. Well built, easy to fit & use and works really well. Thanks for the recommendation!!!

i got the q strap for like 6 pounds i think

i saw it is virtually identical to the black rapid strap. black rapid must make a fortune!

i tell a lie mine has a little K on it. but same strap exactly, must be the same production line and it was 7 pounds
i think the logo must be made of gold for black rapid
silver for q-strap
bronze for K one i got

Hope you have more luck than me!

Was just about to post and say I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole after having the connectors fail on two q straps of different designs. The guy is very reasonable but the product is cheap because it's rubbish.

What do you mean connector? The bolt to the camera or the carribeana?

I'm sorry but for the sake of £30 or whatever it's worth paying extra for a proven quality product when you're hanging over a grand's worth of equipment from it.

Blackrapid aren't Chinese either.

I can find stories of failures of both, but there's loads more BR straps around and they offer a 5 year warranty so I'm happy to pay the extra for that alone.

Ideally with anything that secures to the tripod mount I'd like something that attaches to one of the strap loops just in case the main mounting point fails.
