Hey everyone...

I'm looking to build a really good spec PC for gaming and some CAD programs which will last for a good number of years but I have a VERY small budget right now so my plan is build it bit by bit over time when I can afford the componants I want. This may take at least a year as I'm a poor poor student but I don't mine this.

What I want it to be future proof so I can upgrade to the newest, fastest CPU, graphics and RAM without many limits for the next few years.

Am I right in thinking a good mobo is the first place to start? Any suggestions on a good future proof mobo which can run current 'budget' hardware but I can improve and upgrade one stage at a time when I can afford it.

I'm not looking to overclock right now but maybe when I have some good components I may think about it then.

Thanks.

Wait till you have all the money that you would like to spend, then post asking for a new pc.

If you buy a Mobo for example in the next month or so, by the time you would have actually built your entire system, it would be completely out of date.

So get your money together first.

Ill give you an example of someone that pretty much done what your just about to do.

He bought , he`s PSU, Hard Drives, DVD Drives and Case, at once. Then the Graphics Card and Motherboard. Then the CPU and Memory. That must have been over a 2-3month period.

If this guy got in all in one go, he could have saved about 200 Pounds and got a better spec. That was only in a couple of Months.

To no surprise that person was me lol. Certainly not doing that again.

So yeah, buy all of your components in one go.

I was thinking of this, but then I thought what was the point.

the thing with pcs is that the prices and componants are always changing, so i think you'll be better off saving your money and just buying all the stuff at once.

Unless you get Hd, cd drive, monitor 1st then save for a mobo, cpu, ram and gfx card and get them all at once

Edit: Damn beaten to it :( :p

I know the feeling! I started saving over a year ago for a computer I will be buying in july sometime, hopefully after intel price cuts.
