I've been an avid "clocker" for at least 15 years. Never has any componant died on me due to clocking(stupidity, yes 
) I can safely say that nothing i've bought has had an active warranty for longer than it took to install it 
As for how long will a cpu last, who cares, we're all clockers around here and nothing is ever going to stay in a rig long enough to even warrant thinking about it.
