hey folks I been checking this forum for a wee while now for advice and hints and tips but never posted before. I recently got a new PC which has been a total nightmare, I rebuilt it a couple of days ago and its been stable ever since.
I have never overclocked a system before but I think I might give it a try, just for a little extra juice in some games.
my specs are,
ASUS MT89, GTD Pro/ USB3 board
X4 955 BE @3.2 GHz with standard cooler
4GB Corsair Vengeance
ATI HD 6850
XFX 500W PSU
I bought this system as everything seems pretty easily OC'able and relatively cheap. I'm not looking to totally overdo it and wreck my new machine, just give it a little boost, I installed a 3 case fans that seem to work a treat, it seems to be working as air conditioning (I now have to wear extra socks).
So anyway the motherboard came with some OC software and I was wondering if anyone here would recommend it as an alternative to manually changing the BIOS. One program is TURBO V EVO and another is AMD OVERDRIVE. I think there is another one called GPU BOOSTER or something.
Is this a viable way for a novice to OC their system or is it dangerous without first knowing the effects this will have on the BIOS settings.
Regards,
Gav
