Long way up

Completely agree with the comments on the charging fiasco in the earlier episodes, I’m glad they’ve moved on from that. Having been a big fan of the Long Way series, I’m really enjoying this. I though the use of EVs would be a bore but it’s not bothering me now, and I’m glad theyre showing the EVs failings such as the HD break down rather than it being one big advert for the LiveWire. Basically, they’re not quite there yet but the future is coming sadly!

On the locations, really enjoying the Americas and the filmography is fantastic. We want more!

It's funny thinking of the remote and inhospitable places they've riding through that now they're in the most populated it's become the most dangerous.

Liking it so far, the charging is hilarious cluster and didn’t realise thingy is 007s director or cameraman’s son no wonder he can flop around with no job

Watched 2 episodes of this so far, I am almost to the point of not bothering to watch anymore.

The electric choice I have big issues with, not sure where to start. It's a stupid choice to begin with, especially in this location. They keep mentioning that if it was going to impede the trip, they wouldn't choose the option. I call BS.

They are obviously being sponsored by Harley but there are so many loops they are jumping through and corners cut, that they really shouldn't have bothered.

Installing charging stations along the whole route, very realistic option for most... Having a transit van which is clearly running on diesel (this van had a very brief mention, I wonder why?!)... and then we have the diesel generator being ferried around when needed.

The complete lack of knowledge or briefing about how these batteries perform in cold temperatures - more like to add drama.

Also have some random guy on a bike, no idea what he is running on? Not electric that's for sure as we would have seen his bike.

I'll try one more episode, but I'm really not impressed by any of this. Totally flies in the face of the previous series so far.

By random guy, are you referring to Claudio? I imagine he has to go on ahead and catch up to get shots so EV wouldn’t work. And they wouldn’t find enough capacity to charge 3 bikes.

It gets better from an EV perspective. They stop talking about it. Until the final episode when they rush an entire country the rest of the series is very enjoyable.

Yeah agreed. They almost screwed the series with the first couple episodes. It gets much better.

Shame about Mexico, they spent an awful lot of time making a bus to get them through overnight.

I didn’t think the cartels would bother with a massive UK/US celebrity. It’s usually their own famous actors, musicians or politicians they’ll kidnap or kill for making political comments.

I'm going to try and stick with it, thanks for the heads up.

Yeah didn't really understand that. As someone who has wanted to travel to Mexico for a long time I was hugely disappointed! Did they actually do it in one night?

It was no long way round but still an improvement on long way down which was ruined by Ewan's then wife appearing and whining through the latter episodes.

Oh god, what an utter disaster that turned into. I'd love to rewatch LWD but that whole segment puts me off.

I'm about 7 episodes into the current series and disappointed in myself i've ignored South America as somewhere to visit over the last 20 years...always gone east or pacific. Some stunning landscapes and scenery to be seen.

Definitely this, I enjoyed it as did my wife who hadn't seen the two before, going to revisit long way round as that was epic. I was quite sad watching the earliest eps as we were due to go on our Honeymoon to Chile for 3 weeks in June.

I don’t know about that, most of these people are quite opportunistic and would have possibly seen it as a massive win to nab someone like EM

If that was the case we would have already seen it over the years, loads of big celebrities have visited the country and had a great time. The cartels would not want the consequences that would come with kidnapping or killing someone of Ewan's fame.

It's the same with US or UK journalists who go over there to work, the likes of Ioan Grillo from the UK. You would think he'd be a prime target reporting on the grim reality of the cartels but he loves the country and has never been touched.

Narcos Mexico isn't 100% accurate but it does show what happens when a cartel kills American citizens. It was the downfall of Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo.

I can see why they didn't want to take any risks, it just ruined that part of the trip a little for the viewer that's all. They blitzed through a massive country in no time and spent too long on the bus.
