Abit of a general discussion this but whose water pump is still going after many many years of service? Interested to know the life span of these D5's and DDC's :p

Bought my D5 back in 2014 and still going strong till this day though it was primarily run on De-ionised water for the majority of its life with a few filters in place to stop debris from getting in.

Be interested to see who has had the most years out of theirs or still running like a trooper.

Taken from another current thread:

Yeah I can understand wanting to prolong the life it's just I hear people saying you need a heatsink and air flow etc yet mine have both been running full pelt for 10 -15 years with neither and show no signs of giving up anytime soon. Maybe I've just been very lucky.

Both my old D5 pumps were ran daily for over 5 years without issue and my current DDC has been running daily for just over a year. So far I've never had a pump fail.

My DDC wasn't so lucky, i gave it to my dad to use in his build but it died and caused an overheat. Only found out because his pc kept shutting down. Went to D5's since then and been solid, maybe i was just unlucky with that particular one.

Is there any way to service D5 pumps or best to leave it (if it aint broke don't fix it moments?)

Yeah I've got 2 DDC pumps, both 18w I think, though cant really remember cos I've has them that long. 1 red and 1 blue impeller. Easily had them for longer than 10 years, maybe closer to 15. Was around 2006 when I got them but not sure exactly now. Neither have had heatsinks on, that wasn't a thing when I bought them. Just have 4 rubber feet, 1 on each corner to cut vibrations. They had various pump tops on over the years, currently have xspc reservoir top combo on that I don't think you can get anymore. Still going strong

I have a pair of Aquaextreme 50z pumps one of which I have owned from new and the other I bought in our MM. The one I bought new was from 2005 and I finally retired them last year although they still work as good as the day I got them. Good quality, heavy, solid pumps they are but I wanted something completely silent so moved up to a D5 vario (Alphacool VPP655) last year. I still use the Aquaextreme's for rad flushing and testing purposes.

Wow i totally forgot about these!!! Jesus, i forgot they even existed ...

My D5 vario is just shy of 7 years old. (xspc branded with molex and tach signal) I’ve not had any issues with it in that time other than me breaking the tach signal wire at some point.

Looks like most peoples pumps were around the 5-7 year mark when they were first introduced and are still running from when they bought it on day 1. Testament on how good and reliable some of these pumps really are.

Have a Laing DDC1+ Ultra 18W with Top/w Reservoir (XSPC) Bought 2008 running last 12 years 14 hours a day. Can't even remember cleaning loop although transitioned through 1 upgrade I think. Will probably take pump into next build after good clean with thermochill 120.3 Rad if it will fit inside a case. Been outside of case as TJ 09 is hard to fit inside.

My D5's are only a few years old but they replaced a pair of DDC 18w versions that have been sold on to friends and are still in use today. The DCC's would be over 12 years old by now and have been faultless so far.
