I ordered mine today, cant wait for it to turn up! VTEC will be like 10 times more powerfull and i will EASILY be able to beat anyone in a race!

Just flick a switch and i will have up to 15more BHP on tap, why bother with a troublesome conventional supercharger or a turbo when you can do this for a fraction of the price!

I thinking of running without an airfilter as well, i reckon i can just stretch a sock over the inlet, thats sure to reduce the air resistance a bit too, and hopefully some more POWER!

Have you ever seen videos of how much pressure these things generate?

I've seen a video of one generating 6psi of boost.

i would genuinely want someone on a car forum to buy one of these not so that person can be slated but so we could have a proper rolling road graph and a proper road test.

if else fails you could always have a turbonator! anway.

more efficient then a turbocharger and suitable for bother superchargers and blowers dont ya know..

Yeah, I was interested too because in theory they should work - however I think the impellors will actually restrict flow once the engine gets up to speed...

why not make your own with case fans and duck tape ;-) If you look at the hardware needed in superchargers to compress the air to a decent level you'll understand pretty quickly why a fan just won't cut the mustard...

Ok, time to get slated. :<

I tried it a while back on my Rover Coupe. I had 2 spare 120mm delta screamers, so I thought I'd try strapping them in and see what happens.

Made sod all difference at low revs. At high speed the engine was noticeably less powerful.

There ya go. Now you know. :)

a delta screamer will not compress the air though will it?

These claim to be powerfull enough to compress the air.

Anyone remember that RR vid where they use a leaf blower to generate boost and it was about 10bhp more powerful

I tried using a blower motor off a Mini heater on my first car. Again made no difference other than make it run badly :D

At the end of the day 1hp is about 700W and they say that superchargers rob 50+hp off the engine to add all that extra power. A little electric motor is going to do nothing but block the engine up. This guy had the right idea, rocket powered superchargers: http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2006/04/the_real_acme.html

Just done a bit of maths. I worked out that a 2.0l engine at 5000rpm needs roughly 175 cubic feet per minute of air. That's pretty similar to what a single Delta screamer 120mm produces. The difference is that it only produces that volume in 'free open air', which piping into a tube with an engine block at the end is not. Definitely need a fan that can push through that amount of air... and then put some pressure behind it. A couple of Deltas before an airbox would be pushing next to nothing.

I have seen videos of these things 'boosting' their own weight a reasonable distance off of a workbench. Given they weigh a few kg, that's enough thrust to push additional air under some extra pressure into your engine.

I believe an electric supercharger can work, but unless you've got some sort of gate so the engine can breathe when it's not running, I can't see how it wouldn't restrict the engine.

How silly the air isn't just blowing into the engine the engine is sucking up a whorde of air, I can't believe some people have tried 120MM fans thinking they may work?

LOL. The engine will suck up more air than those things could ever throw in.
