going to order soon so tryin to get a lot of info.

the 2 monitors am looking at are

Viewsonic VX922 19" LCD Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-046-VS)

and

NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-009-NE) when ocuk get em in stock

now all i use my pc for is heavy competative gaming (cs) and web browsing, odd dvd and music.

cs i want to run at 800*600 this is where the problems start, i really dont want to play cs @ a new res, 800*600 <3 it so much.

dont mind playin other games @ 1280*1024, would the the lcd native res b a issue? i have had a read of the forums but this matter is still unclear to me.

thanks

You might want to consider the Samgsung SM-930BF 19" LCD Monitor. I have one of these and its great for gaming, no ghosting, a quick reponse time (4ms), max res 1280 x 1024, and at £240.82 its a bargain :)

Viewsonic VX922 19" LCD Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-046-VS)

without a doubt mate. Got mine yesterday and like you I am a very heavy game player. I play cs, quake, wolfenstein, battlefield with no ghosting whatsoever, even blurred scrolling text on the internet ect is virtually eliminated.

Not sure about 800x600 as I play all of my games at 1280x1024, I would imagine some quality would be lost but not much. You may want to get a 17" if your going to play at that res.

Why do you play cs at 800x600 with the system you have?

thanks guys, i really wanted to get a lcd cause they look so damn good and sleek compared to the monster size of crts, i play cs @ 800*600 becuse i think it feels great, the corsshair in cs look weird @ higher rez, tho i supose i could try get used to playin at 1280*1024, a supose if i got the viewsonic and end up didnt liking it i could give it to me gf to use and just get a new crt.

that samsung monitor i was going to get for my gf at the same time as mine, but think i will get mine 1st then try it for a week then see *** to do, thanks

got a week or 2 to think about this tho. mite try cs at 1280*1024 the now and see if i could adjust.

i'd have a try with 1280 res and see how you get on. Image interpolation on a TFT outside it's native resolution (ie not at 1280 x 1024) is generally not too bad in gaming, but not really recommended for windows use. The VX922 and Samsung 930BF are both ideal choices for a hard core gamer looking for a TFT, and these are arguably the two most responsive models in the market right now. Would be excellent choices

Moir, you can change your crosshair size in cs, bring the console down and type:

cl_crosshairscale "number"

I use cl_crosshairscale 3000 but I like it small, try a lower number like 1000 or under for a bigger crosshair. You can also make it bigger to start with in the options menu.
This way you can play @ 1280@1024 with a big crosshair.
