hi all, looking fo r an fps mouse I was using a logitec M500 but this broke.

So looking at a Corsair CGM M65 RGB, 8200 DPI OR the ZOWIE FK1

Could I have some views on both types for shooting typ games?

Thanks all.

Ok, what sort of grip do you use while holding the mouse during gaming sessions?

How big is your hand from the base to the middle finger? E.g. my is 19-19.5cm

Next is what sensitivity do you normally use in-games? Example of mine 6/11 windows, 400dpi mouse and in-games e.g. CS:GO - 1.7

With this info it's going to be easier to find the best mouse which suits you. But overall I don't recommend using laser sensors as they have positive acceleration and are very picky when it comes to surface (mousepad).

Wow what a great response ;)I like the diagrams I was looking for something like this but could not find.

I would say I am more of a palm mouse man so would you say more of the corsair gaming type mouse?

I thought laser was all the rage? My last mouse was optical but was ready to buy a laser mouse.

As IC3 rightly said, avoid all laser sensors (phillips ones are OK but still not anything like as good as optical).

To start, the M65 RGB is average at best, too heavy, bad sensor and deffo not suitable for palm grip anyway. Personally I couldn't stop using it fast enough.

In terms of the FK1 although it's one of the best mice going I wouldnt advise you buy it for a palm grip, its much more of a claw/finger grip mouse.

Depending on your budget, if you fancy a Zowie the EC 1/2 are their palm grip mice, and being a Zowie makes them inherently good

The Logitech G402 is a bargain, great classic shape but awesome sensor and Logitech quality/support

The mionix naos 7000 is my personal mouse of choice as a palm gripper with large hands; it's just so comfortable would recommend to anyone palm gripping

I currently use IE3.0 which in terms of shape and size is similiar to EC1. But my next mouse which reminds me off my old Ikari is going to be naos, as the ergonomical shape is gold for palm grippers. :D

Mionix Naos 7000 is the way to go in my opinion, if you are scared of ergonomical shape then Zowie EC2 or bigger version EC1. You could probably do price match on OcUK. But they don't have it in stock and aren't sure when they will have stock.

What would you guys recommend for a FPS gamer for someone who is somewhere in-between fingertip and palm grip, with small hands?

I really don't want any extra buttons - just 2 + scroll wheel is fine, and I'd like something that's got some decent weight for accurate graphic design work as well.

Cheers!

edit: maybe Zowie EC2? I';m currently using a Steelseries Kana and the buttons have started to be unresponsive and problematic.

Whereas I have the M65 (non RGB) and for my palm grip it is perfect. Just because a mouse isn't right for you doesn't mean it isn't right for others.

For me the eight is perfect, the sensor is spot on for Bf4 for me.

Zowkie FK1 gets a lot of love from my BF4 guys, the Zowkie FK2 is out (or coming out soon), same as the FK1 in regards to the sensor but slightly smaller in design.

I went to a big PC retailer, had a play around with what felt right in my hand and then purchased online.

I'm a fan of the Logitech G502. Much more accurate than it's predecessors. Some people don't like the metal scroll wheel though. It's best for claw grip.

Edit: Looking at the pictures above I'm actually more fingertip than claw.

I think the Zowie FK2 looks right for me - lots of sensor settings and it's smaller than the FK1/EC2 it seems.

I think that will be the ticket...

FK2 in terms of the size will be the closest to your old kana, since you also like to palm the mouse the FK1 might be the best option. But it all depends how big are your hands and what grip you use most of the time. Because FK1 or 2 is designed for fingertip/claw grip and when I had the FK1 it was really hard to palm this mouse as it was just simply too small for me.

Cheers. I mean I think i'm closer to fingertip than palm grip. I'm somewhere in-between, so maybe erring on the side of fingertip is best? My Kana feels like a good size though. FK2 then?

;) Thanks for all your input on this and very much appreciated.

I have just realized that when at work i adopt the claw type grip, OMG this is harder than i thought

It might sound weird, but I fingertip/claw grip while using the mouse for photoshop or just surfing the web. But I actually recorded myself playing CS to see what grip I use the most and it came out to be palm. :p

LOL really ok now that is digging down that extra depth :)

So keep it optical and an in between mouse palm/claw

Ive just bought the SteelSeries rival and cant fault it. Check it out

I have to question their build quality. I had an XAI which meant that when plugged in sometimes I couldn't boot to windows. They acknowledged the fault but had no solution for it for years. Then a Kana where the buttons started to wear loose and disengage randomly. Not great...
