Looking at Android as an iPhone replacement (depending on what the iPhone 5 is like!)

Just noticed my rubbish grammar in my post. I do agree that at this moment, the OP shouldn't change, but the Galaxy S has the making of an epic phone. The iPhone 5 could possibly be dual core (though at the moment I see no real reason that is should be) and thus Android will (again) have the bragging rights of best hardware. However, most people I know like the kinda dumbed down it just works aspect of the iphone compared to Android. Each to their own, and if you like your iPhone I'm guessing you won't like the change to Android which needs more tweaking and playing to work, but can ultimately be made to do so much more than IOS without paying for apps.

PS Apple fanbois, don't get high and mighty about this generalisation, Apple has been selling itself on the "it just works" mentality for years...

You don't need to tweak android, the standard home screens that manufacturers put on are very usable as they are. Naturally everybody has their own ideas on what works best for them though, and since it can be tweaked, they do.
Apple haven't hit upon some golden formula for interface design, If they let you tweak their layout, you could be assured that most people would do so.
