Looking at buying a MK2/2.5 Focus ST

That's what I'm talking about ;)
I just need to change me mindset, I'm going there to buy it at the moment which is dangerous! Will defiantly give it a good test drive and make sure to give the body/engine a good looking at (and more importantly check for the clutch slip). If I did get it, what would it cost to replace the belts?

Regarding the belts, I believe the interval is 125,000 miles or 10 years whichever is sooner although I'm not sure how much it would cost to get done.

Timing belt kit - £100ish
Aux belts - £20 each
Waterpump - £90ish - Tim Williams who has worked on these 2.5T engines for years has only ever seen 2 failures, so it's up to you if you replace it.
Labour - £200ish?

I paid £270 labour but that included camshaft oil seals too which is quite a bit of work.

And leaving them that long to be done would be madness. There has been at least 4 cases on the owners forums of the aux belts snapping at around 50-60K and 5-6 years old. 3 of them took the timing belt with it. Biiiig repair bill!

Guess it's worth it in the long run, cheaper than when it all goes wrong!
Still keeping my eye on on the ST's but also looking out for other stuff.

Basically I'm after something that's fun to drive, want to enjoy driving each day!

Put it this way, mine's been off the road for a week so far (don't ask) and after about the second day without driving it I was pining to go out for a hoon. :D
