We have been offered an Apartment in a complex called Prima 1 which is situated just south west of the Sunny Beach resort. I have checked it out on Google maps and alos various websites and all seems ok. I couldnt find any reviews on the complex of resort though.

The complex, according to Googlemaps is in a small area that seems to be still under construction (not the complex but surrounding area). The main center of the resort is only a few minutes walk away. There is a small but looks pretty good Aquapark a bit west of the complex, taxi ride I think or maybe bus. I havnt checked the public transport yet.

We have been offered this apartment that can sleep 6 for £50 each for the week. There would be me and my partner and another couple going too. The flights are a bit harder to find as we are trying to make this the cheapest holiday possible. So far the flight are around £160 return each and £300+ Ret each.. Been on most flight websites etc.. If anyone here can find one cheaper let me know. Sat 1st Sept or Sun 2nd for departure. One week.

So. Has any one been to Sunny Beach resort in Bulgaria? Whats the weather like in September?

Thanks in advance.:)

Been there lots of times. I am Bulgarian after all. For cheap flights try www.buzzair.com or maybe some kind of charter. I think Buzzair flies straight to the coast (Burgas) and the you can get a bus to Sunny Beach. If you have any particular questions ask...

Bulgaria is great - not been to Sunny Beach though only skiing in Bansko

A lot of the staff work both seasons - if you see Dani the barmaid or Vale the Barman say hi from me ;)

My parents have an apartment in Sunny Beach and are actually over there now, I will be going over next month for 2 weeks :D

At the minute flights aren't that cheap but Ryanair and Easyjet are looking to start flying over so prices should hopefully plummet. I think I paid abour £234 return for my ticket flying with wizzair.

If you want I'll ask my parents if they can find out some info for you, if I can get hold of them of course dude.

From the pics I've seen that my parents have taken, there is a lot of building work going on but if they work as fast as they did for our apartment then it takes about a year or so for everything to fully done.

I spent 10 days in Sunny Beach and got back a fortnight ago. I stayed at Helena Park resrot (5*) and thought it was great. Hot weather with 0% humidity meant that it wasn't to hot we had regular daily temps up in the mid 30's C.

I'd heard a few good things about it and thought me and Mrs would go for our summer break and oh my is it cheap. we had a proper 5* service, we paid for every upgrade or option we could becouse we couldn't understand why it so cheap, and really had a good time. I'd recommend fully.

Our hotel was about 30 meters from the beach and at the end of the Beach prom which is about 4KM long packed with cocktail bars and stuff. There was a happy hour that was from Mid day to Mid night and during that time it was buy one get one free. Cocktails were about 6 or 7 Lev each, so with the conversation you'd end up with two huge cocktails for about £2.10

Good weather and friendly place only trouble we had was all the people giving you flyers advertising property investment ( expecting 25 - 30% ACR) and others trying to get your attention to get you in there restaurant.

Right:

Are property prices increasing:

Yes they are. Not as much as they were a few years ago but compared to the UK they are increasing.

Where is a good/cheap place to buy

I would be careful when buying there because I think that some places are overvalued at the moment and prices are being pushed up for speculative reasons. With BG joining the EU many investors have been on a property buying frenzy. Its hard for me to give you good advice on property for investment purposes but if you are looking for a holiday home I would suggest somewhere like Sunny Beach (if you like crowded party atmosphere) or if you go further south along the coast it starts to get quieter and the the prices are lower. Sunny Beach and the town next to it (Nessebar - which if you are going to SB you should definitely visit) is not a bad place to buy I dont think that you will lose any money there in the long run but it wont be as profitable as certain other areas.

How are foreign residents treated - do they like English people

Foreigners are treated well on the whole. People will try and skank you occasionally but it happens in any country when you dont know what you should paying for things like Taxis etc. Lots of people speak English and German.

Where is broadband available

In all major cities. I would imagine its available in Sunny Beach as well. Its not mega fast and is quite expensive for what you get (compared to the rest of BG). The telecoms market is just being opened up so its going to get better very quickly.

Is the language difficult to learn

Yes. Different alphabet, lots of different sounds compared to English, fem\masc nouns, remenants of cases. Its not fun but I was born there so I do OK.

Is it safe at night in the cities

Yes/No Depends where you go really. If you stick to the well lit areas you will be fine. I have never had any problems there and I imagine that the worst parts in BG are no worse than the worst parts in the UK. You dont really get the chav phenomenon for example.

Is food expensive

Again it depends where you eat but it can be. Actually I guess that if you eat at nice places you really get screwed when buying wine. Something that is over priced there (considering the quality). Having said the alcohol in the super markets is cheap and Bulgarian wine is really good value for money in most places.

Are summers hotter/winters colder than UK

Yes. Summers can be very hot (there was a recent heatwave where temps where around 40 - 45 degs C for a few weeks). By the coast you are generally looking at 26-34 degs during the summer. In the winter it snows (there is good skiing there) and temps can drop as low as -20 but are usually around -5 to 5 degs in the winter.

Any more questions please ask.

To the OP. If you do go to Sunny Beach and you want to avoided the crappy p tourist place on the north side of the bay then you should head south down the beach towards Nessebar. You will find much better beach bars, with good music (House, Techno) if you are into that sort of thing. Its pretty fun. Nessebar is also a must. Take a walk around the old town and eat there. There are some really good Bulgarian restaurants there serving BG food.

Bulgarian food is great by the way. Its a mixture of Greek and Turkish food. Can be really healthy if you chooses the right things. Roasted Eggplant, Tzatziki, lots of salads etc.
