I'm Paul and I own Subbytech. We have a new 60W rated USB C to USB C cable about to launch. I'm looking for a couple of people who would try it out for us, for free.

Ideally someone that can
A: Use the 60W capability of the cable so you'd need compatible plug and device

or

B: Have a macbook and compatible plug - To see how the charging of an Apple product using the cable, goes.

The cable is black nylon braided and 1.8m long.

I'd be looking for your honest feedback, after a couple days testing it out :) You can keep the cable too :)

Any takers?

*I've cleared this post with mods*

I have an M1 MBA which gets charged most days, I’ll happily test one for you.

I can test one if you like. I have a 60W PD charger and a Lenevo thinkpad laptop I can test with. Also a USB power meter.

@subbytna
Same. Just got delivered cheers.

Will begin testing.

Edit.

So far I like how flexible the cable is and like the feel of the braid. Connectors have a good level of bend protection.

Charging the tablet @ ~15W as it should be. Will test will laptop a little later.

Cheers for the haribos!

Cable has a special sleeved nylon braid on it that helps disperse heat. Should be nice and cool to the touch when in full 60W use :)

The braid is nice and it makes it feel a quality product. I like the rubber band around the cable, it's nicer than a little cable tie.

With it connected to my M1 MBA and the supplied charger which is 30W, I'm seeing just under 30W

The cable is cold to the touch, no issues with it getting warm.

I have a third party 60W PD2.0 charger - With the cable connected to that, it's sitting just above 36W. This is the same charge rate as with the official Apple cable. I've never put the USB power monitor on before so it could be a limitation of the MBA. I must admit I always thought the supplied charger was 60W.

Again, as far as I can tell, it's stone cold.

One thing that's interesting, and it's not the case with my Apple cable... If I plug it the other way into my USB power meter, nothing happens.

With the logo down, it works, with the logo up, it doesn't work. I've swapped the orientation of the cable at the PSU end as well but it's exactly the same. I wonder if @kona786 can reproduce this on his meter.

It works either way round when plugged into the MBA.

It could be something odd with the meter but the Apple cable works perfectly both ways round. I can't explain this.

Will have a go with an iPad Pro when my wife gets home.

Interesting to know about the orientation. I'll also check that out with my manufacturer.

Thanks for the feedback so far :)

I've been deliberately running the battery down this afternoon, have managed to persuade it to give me a decent 45W charge.

Still no feeling of warmth on the cable.

Good stuff, I'd love to hear if the cable will do the full 60W rated speeds. You're getting 45 just now as the battery is low, the draw is less the fuller the battery is with charge.

Yup. Well, relatively low, it's at 56% at the moment! I did let it charge at 45w for a while to see if it warmed up but it's stayed stone cold. I've got videos playing at full brightness to drain it down quickly so I can give it a good try. I'll compare both this and the official cable to see what the most is it will draw.

@subbytna

Got it hooked up to the laptop @ 8% charge. Its pulling a solid 55W. Will check the temps @ 50%.

Edit. The PD charger is pulling 68W from the wall so maxed out.

@Feek

Have the laptop running and doing something intensive and on low battery. This may pull more wattage than when the laptop is off.

Mine is still @ 55W with laptop in hibernation.

Also the cable works both orientations on my power meter.

Cheers all.

Aye, I know. I've had it on significant load all day while checking. My battery is down to around 15% now but the cable and charger are all in my office so I'll test some more tomorrow morning.

Good to hear. I didn't think the orientation of the connector would be a thing, perhaps just unlucky with one cable @Feek
